Tim "Diz" Davidson

Diz and our guide, Clive
I met Diz in 1980 and was never the
same. He is definitely a kindred spirit with a keen sense of adventure and
exploration. He and I went to go see the Clash in St. Louis, MO.
After a wild night of craziness, which included meeting Joe Strummer we awoke,
high-fived and said let's go to New York City. We heard that the Violent
Femmes were going to be at the Danceteria and we were off. We made a slight
detour to stop to visit my folks birthplace in Moundsville, W. Va. and then we
were off again scorching across the Pennsylvania Turn Pike. When we drove into
the city, a purple moon was setting over the skyline and there an eerie feeling
in the air. We had a madcap four days taking it all in. What a wild
time. I have the whole trip recorded on a cassette tape which chronicles
our exploits. The picture above is from out trip to Ambergris Caye,
Belize, Central America . That's Diz in the glass and our guide that took us on
an hour and a half boat ride in a sears john boat to Belize City to raise
hell. We spent a whole week in a stupor. He took me scuba diving for
my first time and we went down 110 feet. What an intense experience.
I can still see him rollin' down the beach with a fifth a rum and a plethora of
natives following us around. The last I heard he was somewhere in Florida. I'm
sure that he's still the same--crazy!
