Hare: Stuporman

Location: Stuporman’s residence, Whitby

 

By 5 p.m. there were only a handful of hashers, and one new boot (Just Jacques), so beverages were offered to wait for others. By 5:30 we had a semi-respectable group, so we introduced the new boot, had a quick chalk talk and went off in search of trail. As with run #2, Stuporman had arranged for three trails: one manufactured on the go by Aims Low for her, Lily (via stroller) and Toast; the second was a medium trail that provided a few shortcuts for Didgeridoo and Kit Kat; and the third was vintage Stuporman – a bit on the long side but it was a great spring day weather-wise.

 

The trail alternated between sidewalks, park paths, some grassy bits and even a bit of RR tracks. Just Jacques demonstrated early his prowess as an FRB, but unfortunately he still didn’t understand all of our marks – he also exemplified himself as one of those in the Run Harder, Not Smarter category. Sometimes he would run ahead, find an arrow, and then run back to the pack to tell them about it. Quite the overachiever for a newbie!

 

Even Dead End did a bit of front running. At one point she did a bit of ranging in a park and found trail, but missed a check, so Stuporman and many onlookers delighted themselves in watching her run a substantial distance to a false.

 

After a full hour on trail the pack finally reached the BC at the house of Stuporman’s main squeeze (not Lowest Lane and not a hasher so nice of her to put up with us). After a couple of icy-cold bevies Just Jacques realized he was late for his son’s hockey practice and he had to dash, so Stuporman provided instructions to the others for finding trail back to the On In and escorted Just Jacques back to his ride (a shame he would miss the circle as he was guaranteed at least three or four down-downs).

 

Back at the On In the hashers devoured Stuporman’s chili after working up a good appetite. Just before the circle started the proverbial Zig Zag arrived – he had run the entire trail but received no beer at the BC, although he was greeted at the door by a cute blonde in nothing but a towel.

 

The circle was convened by Bumming and down-downs were issued, with Stuporman serving as beer bitch:

·         Stuporman for being the hare;

·         Anal Compulsion for extreme backsliding (welcome back AC!);

·         Prince Valium and Didgeridoo for overachieving;

·         Zig Zag for late arrival;

·         Aims Low for being a hash mother;

·         Stuporman for a birthday (50!);

·         Dead End for wearing a scarf on a summery day;

·         Prince Valium for wearing a hare shirt;

·         And finally Dead End for talking incessantly during the circle.
