Fallen Embers
by
Enya

Once, as my heart remembers,
All the stars were fallen embers,
Once, when night seemed forever
I was with you.

Once, in the care of morning
In the air was all belonging.
Once when that day was dawning
I was with you.

How far we are from morning,
How far are we
And the stars shining through the darkness,
Falling in the air.

Once as the night was leaving

Into us our dreams were weaving.
Once, all dreams were worth keeping.
I was with you.

Once when our hearts were singing,
I was with you.
Please don't mourn me
I'm still here though you don't see
I'm right here by your side each night and day
Within your heart I long to stay

My body is gone, but I'm always here
I'm everything you feel, see or hear
My spirit is free but I'll never depart
As long as you keep me alive in your heart

I'll never wander out of your sight
I'm the brightest star on a summers night
I'll never be beyond your reach
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
The pure white snow that blankets the ground
I'm the beautiful flowers of which your so fond
The clean cool water in a  quiet pond

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring
The first warm rain drop that April will bring
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine
You'll see that the face in the moon is mine

When you start to thinking there's no one to love you
You can talk to me through the Lord above you
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees
you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
The beautiful dreams that come when you sleep
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face
Just look for me, I'm every place.

When I'm sad and lonely
and everything goes wrong
I seem to hear you whisper:
'cheer-up and carry on'
And when I see your photo
you seem to smile and say:
'Don't cry... you know I love you
we'll meet again some day'
