Golf is one of Thailand's most popular sports. During the economic boom between 1985 and 1994 many golf courses were built and today there are over 100 golf courses (including the 9-hole courses)for spread over 6 main areas in Thailand as follows.

• Starting from the south, we have Phuket including the Phang-nga areas known as Phuket area
• Then from Hua Hin northwards up to Kanchanaburi and Nakhon Pathom can be classified as Hua Hin-Kanchanabui area.
• South of Bangkok along the Bangna-Trat Highway and Sukhumvit Road leading to Pattaya and Rayong is another area called the Bangna-Trad-Pattaya area.
• Another concentration of golf courses covers the Bangkok Metropolitan area, Northern Bangkok and from Rangsit (near Don Muang International Airport) to Nakhonnayok vicinities can be referred to as the Bangkok area.
• On the Eastern part of Thailand, this area stretches along route 1 and 2 from Saraburi, Khao Yai to Nakhon Ratchasima. We can refer it as the Khao Yai-Nakhon Ratchasima area
• Lastly along the Northern most part of Thailand - Chiangmai - Chiangrai area, around Chiangmai and Chiangrai vicinities.

 

Most of the golf courses are well maintained. If you have a party of 5, no worries, on weekdays, quite a lot of golf courses allow 5 golfers to a flight and a few courses even allow up to 6, no need to split up into two flights and this makes betting and playing together fun.
