Never ever Land

SIZE � 1 acre total area. The land will be split in the middle, separating the �Habitat� side from the �Resources� side. The Habitat will be used to grow crops and house the population. The Resources will consist of the Rainforest and our man-made lake.

POPULATION CONTROL � We will limit the number of children each couple has down to two. Therefore, having three generations we will approximately have 300 residents living in our dome at any given time. And the mother can only give birth at the age of 30 or later.

LOCATION - Temperate rain forest of the Pacific Northwest. Ideal for our biosphere because of the mild climate and vast plant and animal life. The soil is ideal for our ecosystem because of the large amount of rainfall and long lived trees. We will also get the benefit of different land elevations, ranging from sea level bodies of water, to mountain streams. Also, because the area is so moist, there is a low probability of drought. AIR � We will utilize the algae and plants already existing in our ecosystem.

FOOD � Initially, all residents will live off of preserved foods, until the crops begin to grow. After around a season of growing the farmers will begin to share their crops. Each farmer will specialize in a certain crop, so as not to overuse the soil. Special irrigation pipes will be used to water the plants. The water will come from the man made lake on the Resources side of the biosphere. We will kill animals for food and also grow various fruits and also plant soybeans.

WATER � Water comes from sprinklers and flows down from a mountain into our man made lakes. One lake is salt water and the other is fresh water. The salt water river is made to help keep the algae alive. The algae helps us get air and breathe. The fresh water river is for basic needs such as drinking water, bathing, plumbing, crop irrigation and etc. Water will be saved up by the dome. On each corner of the dome there will be tanks, so when the water evaporates up the ceiling it will drip down into the tank and we can reuse the water.

WASTE/SANITATION � We will gather the waste every day and the person in charge will take the waste and put it underground thus it will decompose when bacteria and fungus break it down and creates fertilizer helping plants grow.

ENERGY AND POWER � Solar Panels to get energy from the sun. We can also use hydroelectric power which Water is being released from our man made lake through the dam and the turbine spins. The turbines are connected and it produces energy and power (electricity).

MEDICINE � Since we are living in a rain forest there will be various plants and herbs provided for us. And since the soil is rich the plants will continue to grow. We will plant plants such as Catuaba(which is provided by the rain forest), which relieves pain, calms nerves, prevents viruses, and etc. (http://www.rain-tree.com/catuaba.htm) , Aloe Vera which helps heal mild burns, prevents colds and flu�s, and reduces scars. HOUSING � We will have two large buildings. They are both 6 stories tall and the first two levels are for sleeping/living/bathrooms. The 3rd level is for eating and socializing. The 4th level is for education. The 5th level is for recreation. The 6th level is for storage.

ANIMALS � There will be cows, lambs, chickens for food and clothing,. There will also be domestic animals to keep the environment running and sustain the ecosystem.

CLOTHES- We will have clothes to begin with. Later, when needed we will get clothes from animals such as lambs. We will continually use �hand me downs� until the clothes wear out. We will also skin animals.

JOBS � Jobs will be distributed to the people each having their own task making everyone equal. It will be like specialization, where everyone is good at one job and that is what they will do.

TRANSPORTATION � The only form of transportations will be walking.

OUTSIDE NATURAL DISASTER � Rainsforest are known for earthquakes so we would place beams under the dome as a support system so the dome won�t collapse on us. There is also might be flooding so we put drains around the dome so the water will lead back outside and not leak in.
