America the Beautiful

Until this day, I never really understood or felt the full meaning of the words to our national anthem, or to any of the subsequent songs written about this country. I never understood how a person could join any of the armed forces knowing that a war may come along and that they may die. I never understood any of this until this past Tuesday. I now understand so well, the strength of this beautiful country. I also now fully understand the true spirit of the human.
I could go on about how this makes me feel, saddened, angry, frustrated, but I'm not going to. I want to talk about the undying faith I have in the human spirit around the world. I am greatly touched by the other countries tributes and gestures of sorrow towards this heinous act. I personally cannot understand how another human can do this to his brothers and sisters. We are ALL related, despite religion, skin color, or culture, we are all humans, and therefore are ALL affected by this horrible horrible tragedy. No words can describe what has happened, although I'm trying to, but I know that I am greatly failing.
I am not from New York, yet this still hit home. This world we live in is so small now that something like this touches everyone all over the world, and I hope that whoever did this, despite the fact that he probable knows that we all feel horror, but what we feel only fuels us to retaliate and stand up and come together. It did NOT break us. It could never break us.
Pray--no matter what religion you are--for those lives lost and trapped in the WTC. Also pray for those working and guidence for our President, who despite the jokes I have made, I stand behind President Bush, and he has my full support.
