| The Lamont School of Music offers a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degree in organ performance, as well as the Artist Diploma. Whereas the B.M. and the M.M. are traditional music degrees, the A.D. is more similar to the European Conservatory programs and intended for exceptionally talented organists. The Diploma requirements are not unlike the German "Konzert Examen" in organ but include three full recitals. Organ audition requirements include a selection of three contrasting pieces from four different areas; one work by J. S. Bach, and two works from the Pre-Bach period, the Romantic, or the comtemporary period (four major works for the A.D. audition). Dr. Horst Buchholz, organ faculty at the University of Denver, is also Director of Music and Principal Organist at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Professor of Church Music at the St. John Vianney Seminary. |
