On the 2nd around 7:30 am, a former member of the popular rock group, X Japan which broke up at the end of 1997. Guitarist hide-san (age 33), was discovered by the woman he lived with in his Tokyo Metropolitan area Koukunanasanuno house hung in his bathroom, with a towel hanging by his neck to the door knob.She called 119. hide was sent to the hospital immediately but unfortunately, he was announced dead at 8:52am while being transported to the hospital.
There was no posthumous writings; a police headquarter officer said it looked like suicide. As to the investigation, on the same day around 6 am, Matsumoto-san was sent home with his younger brother (age 30). As they had been considerably drunk, the woman he had lived with put him to bed on his 12 tatami mats in his room; at 7:30 am when she went to check on him, Matsumono had wreathed a towel on the side of the door knob, it appeared like he was hung with shirimochi and this is how she found him hung. He was in his underwear. The towel was cut into two, both ends being tied together into a cord.
After the disolution of X Japan in September 1997, hide went well with his solo works, including "Zilch" and "hide with Spread Beaver". There is no evidence that he ended his life due to career depression. Also, there is a rumour saying that hide was reshearsing a "suicide scene" in his next live concert, and he died of accident. His reason of death is still a mystery.
Funeral services of hide-san was held on the 7th at 1 p.m., at the Chikuji Hongan Temple in Central Chikuji. The chief mourner is Mitsuru-kun.
The funeral held exclusively by the family and closed friends. 1:00 p.m. to 3:50. 300 people attended, X-Japan members were the front row. Toshi appeared. Yoshiki came alone in the back of his RR.
(8/06) hide's photo is 2.5x1.5 meters from "Psyence" and his 13 guitars is on the altar. Over 200 fans stayed up all night surrounding Honganji. Many fans went back home leaving flowers behind because schools start again on 9/06. The fans remaining gathered those flowers and soaked them in the buckets water for the next day's flower offering. hide's office decided accepting the flowers, they has been offered the altar The fans sometimes gather trash and sweep the street, they are staying neatly. The signature collecting campaign of the hide memorial hall has broke out among the fans. The flower offering from 10:00am to 7:00pm. Over 10 girls fell down in a faint soon after the offering and brought to a hospital. The inside of the Honganji funeral hall is opened to the press at 4:00pm for the first time. The wake will be held from 6:00pm this evening 20000 fans offered flowers. Many young rock musicians gathered like as Extacy Summit. News said 2 hide fan girls are critical by attempted suicide. X-Japan members held a press conference to appeal to fans not do what makes hide sad, don't follow hide... .
During the funeral, Yoshiki said: "I'm very shocked to hear about his death. I still can't believe what has happened. Right now, he's sleeping with a beautiful face. I tried to wake him up many times, but he's still sleeping. Between the five of us, Hide was the one who kept his calm and thought out things. Even though I was the leader, he was the calm one who gave me good advice when I was being short tempered and emotional. Of course with all of that pressure, he too almost lost his identity. But during those hard times, he'd always give me a call. We would talk about X, music, friends, life, fans, almost anything. He was like an older to me and sometimes like a younger brother too. We'd drink togethher and sometimes fight. But the next day, he'd come to me and say, "Yoshiki, did I do something last night? I'm sorry, I don't remember a thing. But this time, he didn't say anything back to me, sleeping. To all fans and friends, you must all be confused. I too can not express this sadness in words But we must understand that this is a reality. Everyone please watch over his eternal sleep warmly. X-Japan Leader Yoshiki
YOSHIKI also said that he believes hide's death was an accident because YOSHIKI and hide had planed the 2nd X-Japan by the year 2000" Toshi couldn't express his feeling well in the words, Yoshiki patted on Toshi gently.when he didn't know what to say and said "Toshi & I are good friends still now." They seemed, for me..., a great father and a returned 'leave home' son. YOSHIKI has gotten dignity and nobility and Toshi looks become shabby..... On 07/08/98,a memorial concert of Hide will be hold on 26 Sep. Luna Sea, Glay, B'z, globe and the guitarist of American band Kiss and Guns N'Roses was invited for the concert.

hide's grave is located in a park called "MIURA-REIEN" in Kanagawa-ken. There were a lot of flowers from his fans. When Shoichi was praying for him, there were three girls behind him waiting to go up to hide's grave and give hide the flowers .
