The Game Is On

Chapter Two

Duo slammed his shoulder hard into the door that at the moment was the only possible way out of the room. He grunted in pain as he repeated it over and over again slamming his weight harder and harder against the door but it didn’t open.

Giving up Duo slid onto the floor and leaned his head back.

“Could this get any worst?” He muttered to himself. Or herself even, lets not forget our poor Duo-chan is a girl now.

“Come now Princess, your food is served.”

Duo looked up at the man dressed in black.

“I guess it can.”

“Why the long face?”

“Lets think, I’m locked in here… with you.”

“My Dear, just think tomorrow we’ll be one, forever.”

“Why don’t I like the sound of that? And why me? Surely some other Princess would be more than willing to marry you?”

Duo asked from his position on the floor.

“Because with you by my side I’ll be unstoppable. Even your chubby boyfriend won’t be able to stop me. I will have your power. And as you fully well know your power is the most strongest in this world.”

Duo didn’t hear anything that came after the words ‘your chubby boyfriend’.

“Whoo! Wait! Matte! My chubby boyfriend?”

“Don’t be dumb. You are the most powerful enchantress in this world.”

“Wait a sec. If I’m the most powerful enchantress then why am I locked in here? I can blow this room apart.”

“Not with my spell on you. No magic can be used in this room.” The man sneered. “Now eat” The man pulled Duo to his feet and pushed him on to the bed and Duo slowly began to eat.

“Who’s my boyfriend then?”

The man glared. “His name will not be mention under my roof.”

“Ok! Who are you? You haven’t told me your name yet!”

The man suddenly smiled at Duo.

“Duet, you are simply beautiful.”

Duo blushed, hoping the man was talking about his face and not his female body.

“My name is Ashlan.” The man, Ashlan, inched slowly closer to Duo on the bed and before Duo knew what was happening he was laying on his back, this man pressing him to the bed. “How I wish I could claim you today. But I must wait. Tomorrow my love.”

The man then disappeared.

“Tomorrow? Fuck you man.” Duo pushed himself into a sitting position. “Time to think Duo!”

Duo stood up and headed towards the window and he lent on the window sill.

“You know you could try that, let down your golden hair thing? It might work, if there was someone standing at the bottom to climb up your hair.”

Duo spun round, his hand automatically going to the gun that wasn’t there.

“Who are you?”

“I’m KenKen-Kun.”

“Who?”

The small boy/dwarf thing didn’t look pleased.

“I know I should of traded places with Chibi_Shini. I’m a helper. I give you advice and if you have done a task really well then I might teach you a spell.”

“Oh yeah, I forgot this was a game! There are guys like you in FF games that tell me things I need to know.”

“This is NO GAME Princess!” KenKen-Kun cried.

Duo flinched at the yell. “Gomen.”

“Pay attention.” And KenKen-Kun began to tell Duo the same information that Chibi_Shini had told Heero, Trowa and Trieze.

“So they are coming here now?”

“They should be here in 3 hours, depending on how fast they walk.”

“Power walking, bout an hour then!”

KenKen-Kun smirked. “Yes. Now Princess I need to tell you something extremely important.”

“What about?”

“Your powers.”

“I can’t use them.”

KenKen-Kun stepped up to Duo’s side.

“This castle is beside the Evergreen Forest, your power is drained because these stone walls are enforced by an evil wizard who wishes to use your power to kill those you love. Your boyfriend will be killed as well if his plans is put into action.”

“My boyfriend? Who is my boyfriend?”

“Why Knight Yuy is.”

Stars appeared in Duo’s eyes.

“Anyway! Once out of this castle it is easy to use your power, it will come to you and you’ll know how to use it when the time is right.”

There was a popping noise and another little kid/dwarf appeared.

“Aya-Koi?” KenKen-Kun turned to his lover.

“They have arrived at the forest edge and need our help.”

KenKen-Kun turned back to Duo and bowed. “Till the next time we met!”

The two chibis disappeared.

“WAIT!”

But Duo’s plea met only his ears.

The sun beat down on the three Knights as they made a quick journey of the short walk to the Evergreen Forest. Hopefully under the shades of the trees the young men would be able to rest.

“I feel like I have walked for miles.” Trowa said kneeing down as soon as they were covered by the tall green trees.

Heero looked around him, something wasn’t right here. He had never known a forest to be so quiet.

The other two had also noticed it.

“We should move quickly. This place isn’t safe.”

And even as the words left Heero’s mouth out of the ground rose an oak tree. Or at least it looked like an oak tree. Part from the razor sharp leaves and sharp pointed wooden stakes it held. It was human shape, a silver-brown girl. Her eyes were green and her weapons were the stakes and leaves.

“Which one of you is Knight Yuy?”

Heero stepped forward.

“I am.”

“I challenge you to a fight.”

“Why?”

“The Princess you seek must be won by you from us.”

“Then I will fight you and I will kill you.” Heero promised, his words as icy as the prussian stones in his eyes.

“Then lets begin!”

And the oak girl attacked.

As he watched her come towards Heero suddenly remember that he had no weapons, then his solider instincts woke up and he delivered a sharp jab to her neck. The girl fell.

“Too easy.” Heero said, his eyes scanned over the girl’s still body.

There was silence for a few minutes before the girl’s body began to shake and she sat up laughing.

“Is that all you have?” She asked mockingly as Heero glared down at her. “Surely you can do better than that.”

She stood up and raised a stake and threw it at Heero’s chest.

Heero threw his own body to the left causing the stake to miss him. As he landed on the ground his hand encircled around the handle of what appeared to be a broken sword.

Better than nothing. He thought as he lifted it and pushed himself to his feet. He turned to the oak girl and raised the half sword in front of him. Once again her laughter was held around the wood.

“You can’t defect me with that.” She pointed at the sword and continued to laugh.

And it was as she laughed that Heero felt the change.

Firstly the sword in his hand began to heat up until it got to a temperature so hot that everyone in the cleaning could smell Heero’s hands burning. Second Heero dropped the sword and it cluttered loudly around the wood. Then it disappeared into the soil.

“What the fuck!” Heero swore, noticing that once again he was weapon less with only his hands to fight.

“I don’t have time for you.” The oak girl said and raised her hands to the trees above and began to chant. “Lady of the Roots lend me your strength and help me to kill this foolish mortal.” She glared at Heero and a strong wind surrounded the boy. “You have met your maker boy!”

*Flash*

“Anyone who sees me has a date with their maker.”

*Flash*

Powerful wind, tightening, struggle to breath. Air need.

*Flash*

“Why the God of Death?”

Smirk. “Cause I have escaped him for so long I thought it was time to repay him and join him.”

*Flash*

“HEERO!”

*Flash*

“NO! You can’t self destruct! Heero you have to save…”

*Flash*

“No.” Heero reached out and grabbed the oak girl. “You can’t kill me.” He gripped her harder, his steel hands breaking her bones. “I have to save Duo!”

And with that last sentence the oak girl gave a painful cry and vanished as a bright light came flying out of Heero and into where her heart would be. She dropped Heero to the ground and Heero sat there breathing heavily long after she had gone.

Trieze and Trowa sighed as they sow the girl die.

“Hay what’s that?” Trowa pointed at the ground in front of Heero.

Raising his head Heero sow the glinting silver of a long sharp blade and the green stones that were embedded deep into the handle.

Heero reach out and touch the sword.

“It’s your weapon Heero.” Trieze said as Heero stood up, holding the sword in one hand. “With this sword you can channel your power and use it to save Duo.”

Heero nodded and placed the sword in his belt.

“We should hurry onwards.”

“Check your life force first, Heero.” Trieze said.

“How?”

Trieze raised his arm and rolled back his sleeve and pointed at the bare skin. “Hang on! There is meant to be a watch here!”

“A watch?”

“With a mini map and a life force monitor and a list of all the objects that you collect on your journey.”

Heero looked at his wrists, as did Trowa. Nothing. Bare.

“What does it mean?”

“The safety isn’t working. If we die now, we die for good. Anything that happens in this world, happens to our bodies in the real world.”

“You’re saying…” Heero started.

“I’m saying that we are screwed. Badly.”
