The bright morning sunlight streamed in though the window and played
on the white sheets covering the lumpy bed. The man in it yawned then
turned over and blinked. He sat up and stretched almost falling off
of the bed.
"Goku!!!" A voice called up from the floor below. "Are you awake
yet? Breakfast is ready!!!"
"Just a minute, Chi Chi!" Goku called back down then wearily
climbed out of the bed. He had been feeling very tired lately for
some unknown reason, unexpected dizzy spells coming at times. He
hadn't told his wife; he didn't want to worry her. Also then she
would start screaming at him about how she was such a poor wife and
mother then haul him off to see a doctor. He walked over to the wash
stand that was near the bed and splashed some water on his face, then
dried it on a nearby towel. Glancing out the window he realized the
time of day, and hastily pulled on a clean gi and ran down the stairs.
Chi Chi looked up from the sink where she was doing some dishes.
The boys must have eaten already, he realized.
"Goku! It's about time that you're up!!!!" She said turning to face
him, her hands on her hips.
"Gomen, Chi Chi, I was... tired." He said quickly, trying to stop
her rant that he knew was coming on.
"Goku, what is wrong? Aren't I a good wife? Why can't you behave
like a normal man?!" she started screaming. "You never get up early
anymore, all you do is train with that no account bum, Vegjita, and
you never have any time for me anymore!!!!! All you do is eat, sleep,
and fight! Why can't you take me somewhere for a change!"
"Chi Chi? Do you want to go on a vacation?" Goku asked timidly.
"Yes! But guess what.. WE DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY!!!" She screamed in
his face.
Goku winced then quickly spoke before she could get in another word.
"Chi Chi, I do have a little money. I've been saving it for a while
because I thought that you worked so hard that you must be tired and
fed up."
"Goku? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!!!" she screamed. Goku fell over.
"It was supposed to be a surprise for your birthday!!" He screamed
back at her.
Chi Chi smiled. "That is great Goku! I'll start packing after you
start training."
"But I thought that you didn't like me training with Vegjita?" Goku
asked confused.
"JUST GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!" she screamed so loud that the whole
world must have heard. Goku didn't need to be told twice. He opened
the front door to the house and closed it softly before turning and
jumping into the sky. He flew the short distance to the training
ground where he usually sparred with Vegjita and landed softly.
  "Vegjita?" He called.
"Over here, Kakarott." came the gruff reply.
Goku walked over to where Vegjita was standing, looking at an
object in his hand.
"What do you have there, Vegjita?" Goku looked over his shoulder, a
wide eyed expression on his face. Vegjita closed his fist quickly,
startled. He turned with a snarl on his face, and what could have
been tears in his eyes.
"Kakarott!!!!! Can't you learn some manners?" He snapped. All trace
of tears vanished as his cold mask dropped into place.
Goku got a hurt look on his face. "Vegjita?"
"Well are we going to spar or what?" he walked across the clearing
and waited his back to Goku. Goku looked down, confused. Why was
everybody mad at him? First Chi Chi, now Vegjita. What was he doing
wrong? Tears welled up in his eyes.
  "I'm sorry, Vegjita, I can't spar today. I don't feel good."
Vegjita turned around as he heard the break in Goku's
voice. "Kakarott..."
Goku turned and teleported, appearing at the Capsule Corp in a lab
where Bulma was working.
"Goku!?" Bulma started then saw his face. "What's wrong?"
"I need the Dragon-rader. Can I please borrow it?"
"Um.. sure, Goku." Bulma rummaged through a drawer and pulled out
the compact device. "I've upgraded it a bit since the last time that
you used it. You'll be able to track the balls much faster and the
coordinates are easier to read. I know how hard it was for you to
read them before. What are you planning to do?"
"Nothing much." He quickly took the radar and teleported back
outside the Capsule Corp before she could ask another question. He
was tired of being treated like he was stupid by everyone, tired of
not being perfect, tired of forgetting everything that was important
to everyone around him. He didn't want to feel stupid anymore and he
wasn't going to let anyone talk him out of it.
He started flying and soon reached a desert and hid his ki. He sat
down trying to think. He had to get the dragonballs and he had to do
it without anyone noticing. It finally hit him after a half hour.
Small jumps of teleportation to just about where the dragonball was
and then quickly hide his ki again. He got up and turned on the
radar. A large display popped up on the flat, green screen mapping
out the dragonballs' locations. He proceeded to retrieve them one by
one. Finally he had all seven.
He spread them out in front of him, making sure that each one was
touching the other. He stepped back as they began to glow with a
bright light.
"Arise Shen-long!!!" He cried to the sky that had darkened with the
dragonball's power. The Dragon answered his summons, spiraling up
into the sky.
"I will grant you one wish. Speak. Name your request." Shen-long
said in a gravely voice.
Goku looked at him trying to think of how to phrase his request.
"I wish that I wasn't dumb, that I was as smart as I was supposed
to be before I fell and hit my head as a child."
"It shall be done." Shen-long's eyes began to glow red and a bright
flash of light surrounded Goku, healing the damage that had been done
and restoring his true intelligence. As quickly as it had come, the
light receded and Shen-long departed.
"Your wish had been granted. Farewell." The dragonballs streaked
through the sky settling across the world, useless for the next year.
Goku blinked his head hurting from the ordeal that he had just put
himself through.
"I can't believe it." He brought a hand up to his forehead and
touched it. He didn't feel any different than for the headache that
he had acquired. "Did it work? It must have, Shen-long said so." He
blinked then sat down on a nearby rock. "I should return the dragon-
radar to Bulma. I hope..." he sighed. He buried his head in his
hands. "I just hope that they'll like me better now that I'm not just
a dumb fighter. But what if they don't? Should I tell them?"
He got up off the rock and took off into to sky, flying slowly.
After he had been flying for an hour he flew over a small town that
was surrounded by a large forest, roads making little lines that
extended in different directions. It looked so peaceful. He decided
to stop and walk around for a while. He landed a few miles outside
the town and started slowly walking on the road leading to it,
needing a little time to think. A short while later, a car rumbled by
him and he looked up. A little old woman was sitting in the driver's
seat and there was a bunch of fruit and vegetables in boxes in the
back seat. She looked over at him and he smiled at her.
"Where you going, sonny?" she asked, smiling back.
  "Into the town," he answered.
"That's where I'm heading. Do you want a ride?" she said patting
the seat next to her.
  "Um, sure."
He climbed into the seat and fifteen minutes later was in the
town's square, where people were setting up stalls and booths along
each side.
"Well, here we are. I've got to set up my shop before the festival.
You take care now."
"Wait!" Goku exclaimed. "Can I help an any way? To repay you for
the ride."
"Oh, think nothing of it. It was my pleasure."
"But I really want to help." he begged.
"Well, if you really want to, I do need someone to help me unload
the fruit and vegetables."
"Great! Where do you want me to put the them?"
"Just follow me." She parked the car and turned of the ignition,
after which she pointed to a small booth in the corner of the square
nearest to them. A small booth was standing there, in much need of
repair.
"I think that it needs to be fixed before you can use it." Goku
remarked to the old lady.
"I know," she sighed. "But I can't pay anyone to fix it. I don't
have the money."
Goku frowned and poked it. It fell into a bunch of old boards.
"Ah! Now what?" she exclaimed. "I won't be able to sell anything!
How am I supposed to sell anything now?"
"Don't worry, I'll fix it." Goku said quietly, then went back to
the car and brought back the boxes with the vegetables and fruit that
was in it.
"Now, let's see." He looked at the wood in front of him then at a
nearby booth, quickly examining the frame and structure. He made a
few modifications in his mind, giving no thought to the process, and
set to putting the booth in front of him back together welding the
wood with his ki. He finished and looked at his handiwork.
"What do you think?" he asked the little woman who had come to
stand behind him.
She looked at his creation with an appraising eye. "That's not
bad." She kicked it, although it shuddered, it didn't fall. She
grinned. "Young man, you are one hell of a builder."
Goku through a hand behind his head and laughed. "You think so? I
had fun doing it." he smiled. Goku picked up the boxes that he had
lain down before and stacked them neatly on the booth.
  "There, all done."
"Thank you, young man. You have a kind heart." she smiled and
patted him on the arm. "Now you had better get going, I'm sure that
you have a family and I'll bet that they are worried about you."
Goku smiled. "Yes, I think I had better get going."
He turned and walked off, waving good-bye. When he was out of
sight, he flew straight up into the air and started slowly back to
his house, though he could have easily teleported back using the
instantaneous movement technique. He didn't want to have to deal with
Chi Chi just yet, as he knew he would when he got back. His thoughts
played back to that morning.

~ "Goku! It's about time that you're up!!!!" She said turning to face
him, her hands on her hips.
"Gomen, Chi Chi, I was... tired." He said quickly, trying to stop
her rant that he knew was coming on.

"But I thought that you didn't like me training with Vegjita?" Goku
asked confused.
"JUST GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!" she screamed so loud that the whole
world must have heard.~

She has been acting strange for the last few months, he realized.
What was going on? Why was she behaving so strangely? And why would
she want him out of the house?
He gasped as he realized what everything was pointing to. No. He
blinked his eyes, trying to hold back unshed tears. How could she do
this to him? But even more,  why hadn't he seen what was happening?
Because I couldn't think. Because I trusted her. Because I thought
that she loved me. Because... I loved her. He gave a choked sob. But
what if he was wrong? A hopeful look appeared on his face. What if it
was just his imagination? He prayed that's all it was.

OK, I know that this part was quite bland, but I have to build the
plot, ne? Much more colorful stuff will be coming soon!
