Chapter Nine: Sam Turns Fourteen
Everyone was looking forward to January 31, Sams birthday. Allison was excited to see what theyd be doing this year, Sam was excited simply because it was her birthday, and the others were just excited because there was going to be a birthday party. When they got the invitations, they found out it would be a swim party at Lions Pool, the closest public pool. Finally, it was the day of the party. Most of the time they swam. Allison spent the least amount of time in the pool because she didnt wear goggles and opened her eyes underwater. The time that was spent in the pool was devoted to annoying Brian by stalking him. Their friend, Daniel Trisler, a very short kid their age (about Allisons size), would try to get in her way, but shed just nicely push him out of her way and continue to stalk Brian. They all eventually got out and did the cake and presents. Sam had gotten Jareds present, an ice cream bar, the previous day at school because he was visiting relatives on the day of the party. While Sam and her mom were cleaning up the mess from the presents, Allison was torturing Brian some more by threatening to pour her pop out on him. She had nearly drunk all of the pop out of the cup and flipped the cup upside down over his head. One drop fell from it and landed on Brians upper lip. He exclaimed what had happened and he and Allison began to blush and very dark pink. Soon it was time for them to all go home, but they all didnt want to go. Eventually, they all did go home, but Allison and Sam talked about it later that day and they also talked about what had happened on Friday. That was funny though! Allison was saying. No, it wasnt. Sam was laughing. Its embarrassing having Happy Birthday, Sam! on the white board of nearly every classroom! Anyway, who drew the squirrels on the board in science? They werent very good. Oh that was Emily. I just did the cakes and words. You guys are so hurtful! You knew that, right? Yeah, we know. Thats why its so funny to do things like that to you, Allison laughed.
