Chapter Four: Locker Doors and Heads Don't Mix!
SLAM! Suddenly, Allison saw stars, then darkness. She felt someone grab her hand and hold it tightly as something cool and smooth was placed on her forehead. Allison! Are you alright? Come on! Wake up! a familiar voice echoed. What seemed an eternity later, but really was less than a minute, Allison opened her eyes slowly and looked around, taking in her bearings. Her head was pounding on the left side and she instinctively grabbed it. What happened? That really hurt! she managed to say groggily. Would you like the story before or after you rammed your head into my locker door and knocked yourself out for a minute? Jared asked. Ow. No wonder my head is pounding. What did you put on my head and how far is the nurse from here? We used your water bottle. Its a little way to the nurses. Can you walk or are you dizzy? Brian looked concerned. Allison tried to get to her feet, but had to sit down again. She told them to give her a minute to steady herself then she got to her feet again. I think I can walk, but only with support. Sam had an idea. How bout you guys support her as she walks to the nurses office, while I run ahead and tell them what happened. She hurried away and the guys decided that Brian would support Allison and Jared would walk behind them to catch her if she fell. She didnt fall and made it all the way to the lunch room before they had to stop. Allison was getting fatigued so Brian picked her up and carried her and carried her from there. It wasnt hard because she didnt even weigh 100 pounds. Brian made a comment to Jared along the way, Makes you hope that Samantha will run into a locker door, doesnt it? Jared simply glared while Allison gently and quietly chuckled to herself. Right then, the bell for second lunch rang. Oh great, the world gets to see me in a pathetic predicament. Just my luck, Allison said pessimistically. You know, you could try walking again, Jared pointed out. Too late now. Allison sighed. Oh my gosh, Allison! What on earth happened to you? Youre being carried in the direction of the nurses office by Brian and Jared! Yes, thank you for stating the obvious, Emily. I noticed right after running into a locker door, blacking out, waking up with a pounding headache, then only being able to walk halfway and being carried thus far on my way to the nurses. Please excuse us. Id like to get there and lie down for a while, Allison almost snapped as the crowds began to gather and stare. After arriving at the nurses, Brian gently lowered her onto the bed and stepped aside so the nurse could examine her head. Meanwhile, Jared and Sam got permission (and a hall pass) from the nurse to go to their classes with a note explaining why they wouldnt attend that day. ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ Ow. That hurt, but I think I can walk homecarefully of course. Allison said as the last bell rang. She got up and walked around to prove that she could walk without being dizzy. The nurse told her okay but to go slowly and carefully home. Dont worry. Last year I got smacked in the back of the head and right shoulder with one of the snare drums. Trust me, Ill be fine. Allison muttered under her breath.
