Chapter Ten: The Frightening Evening
(Written by Samantha Sutton) It all started when I decided I was going to tell Jared that I liked him. I had been thinking about the approach for a long time because I didnt want to shock him with the news. So, I decided to get some more people to help. It soon became O.S.O (Operation Secret Operation). Soon enough, I had Allison and Brian helping in almost any way they could. After talking to Allison about what I should do, I finally decided to get help from one of Jareds and my best friends, Brian. Brian was a lot of help when it came to something like this, playing match-maker, I mean. We talked about it for a while and he finally said, Do you want me to tell him for you? Yes, I replied. But you have to have him call me when youre done telling him. Okay, he said. We had to do this because I told Brian to hint to Jared that I liked him without using my name, but he hinted too much by saying, I know someone who likes you! Jared told Brian that he would kill Brian if he didnt tell. Now, the moment, I thought as I was shaking with a lingering pain in my stomach. Ringgggg!!!!!! Hello, I said. Hi, its Jared. Brian told you, right? Well, he did have permission. So, did you even suspect me? To tell you the truth, no. Good, so I really dont know what to say now. Can I smack myself in the head with my flute? Sure, go right ahead. Thank you. Well, right now Im shaking while rocking back and forth in a fetal position. Okay. I then rambled about Solo and Ensemble and that I had an accompanist lesson in an hour. Cool, was his response. Do you know about the walking up the hill story? What? Okay, obviously you havent heard. Heard what?! The walking up the hill story. Okay, Ill tell you. At Allisons Christmas party, remember when we all walked up the hill? Yeah, why? Did you notice something about us two people? Yeah, we both were out of breath. Okayyoure not filled in on much around the table, are you? Well, let me put it into my perspective. Allison, Brian and Emily made comments that mad e me stressed out for weeks about us two people. Really, like what? Lets just say it makes it sound somewhat romantic, I guess. Okay. I dont know what else to tell you. So, Ill see ya at school tomorrow. Yeah, but you can not act any different, okay? Dont worry, I wont. Thank you. Bye! Bye!
