Great Dining in Reno
We've only lived here a year, so this list isn't going to be very long yet.
They are only the names of restaurants we have gone to thus far. If we haven't
tried them, then I can't give you a very good description of food or service.
I hope to have exact locations, perhaps links to maps and phone numbers if any
of these interest you. PLEASE keep checking back.
MY FIVE STAR RESTAURANT IS CURRENTLY:
The Steakhouse at Western Village.

QUICK FOOD
- Subway- pretty big chain, so there are a few locations. One on Moana
near S. Virginia on the side of the Smith's shopping center, one on South
Virginia, one on McCarran near Big Lot's (across from Meadowood), and one
in the basement of the Hilton.
- Port Of Subs- very good eatin! One on McCarran near Mae Anne in the
Ridgeview shopping center. There are others I can't think of exact locations
right now.
BUFFETS
- Island Buffet- located in the Peppermill Hotel/Casino on S. Virginia.
Good food, serves meat, pasta, as well as salad bar, and lots of other side
dishes.
- Toucan Charlies- located in the Atlantis Hotel/Casino on S. Virginia.
Good food, GREAT Mongolian BBQ.
- Grand Canyon Buffet- located in the Reno Hilton near the airport
on Mill Street (I think it is). Pretty good food.
- Victorian Buffet (I believe its called)- located in the Silver Legacy
(between El Dorado and Circus Circus). Decent food, selection is a little
slim.
- The Rotisserie- located in John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks off/on
Victorian Ave. Usually has a long wait during dinner time but good food, excellent
meat, and good service.
DINE-IN (GENERAL)
- The Purple Parrot- located in the Atlantis Hotel/Casino on S. Virginia.
Good all around selection, service is hit and miss.
- The General Store- located in John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks off/on
Victorian Ave. Good selection, usually good service. Great monte cristo.
- The Farmhouse Cafe- located in John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks. Nearly
the same menu as the General Store without the wait.
- Gabe's Pub and Deli- located in John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks.
Good for do-it-yourselfer food. They have ice cream, cakes and other treats
as well. Near the horse racing books downstairs.
- The Claim Jumper- located on S. Virginia and Kietzke Ln. Good food.
- Red Robin- located on McCarran near Kietzke in front of Albertson's.
GREAT burgers and limitless fries!
DINE-IN ITALIAN
- Olive Garden-located at Kietzke and S. Virginia (I BELIEVE). Always
a favorite, very good food.
- Monte Vigna-located in Atlantis Hotel/Casino. Very "ritzy"
restaurant, recommend dressing nice. EXCELLENT cream of asparagus soup!
- Skyline Cafe- located on McCarran near Skyline Blvd? (not sure).
Small, but rather ritzy restaurant that has EXCELLENT pasta, but the portions
could be bigger.
- Cafe Alfresco-a more "fast food" italian approach specializing
in wood-fired pizzas with some other things available. Food is good, but service
could be better. (Atlantis Casino)
- Romanza- fancy italian restaurant located in the Peppermill Hotel/casino.
I have not eaten there, but I know it is beautifully decorated!
DINE-IN STEAK!
- The Steakhouse- located in Western Village. Excellent selection of
gourmet steaks served very hot and they are very good! (FIVE
STARS! one of my favorites!)
- Cattlemen's- located in Carson City and also in Reno (I believe,
not sure where). Good steak and lively atmosphere.
- The Outback Steakhouse- located on S. Virginia near the Atlantis
Casino's valet parking lot. Decent steak and food, good service.
