PLAY THE CASINOS/FIND THE FREEBIES
You can play slots nearly anywhere in this state, even the grocery stores.
However, some places are better than others. Here's a list of our favorite places
to go play and WHY. We haven't tried them all by any means. (We only play the
nickel machines as it is)
Best Places to Gamble:
- Reno Hilton- slots aren't as loose as some places, however the environment
is so much nicer. Very little congestion, and no smoke to breath. It's very
lovely and luxerious as well.
- Atlantis- it's close by so its convenient. It pays off better than
the Hilton does usually, but they have many of the same machines. They are
congested and smokey, however. That is a drawback. They have a lovely atrium
to sit in to have some quiet or allow the little ones to run and watch the
elevators.
- Peppermill- close and convenient. They pay off pretty well. They
are smokey and congested as well. They have LOTS of indoor lighting on the
machines with mirrored ceilings. This is good or bad, depending on you.
- John Ascuaga's Nugget- has a nice environment, not very smokey or
congested. Pays off pretty well.
- The Silver Legacy- was very loose when it first opened, haven't been
there in awhile. We avoid downtown if we can. However they have a lovely decor
and a need mining tower with a light show to watch. They are not really congested
or smokey, but there is usually a lot of traffic.
Find the Freebies you usually have to join the club which
has lots of benefits-discounts at the giftshop, earn points towards comps and
freebies, and free tournaments. Here are a few we've found.
- Atlantis- Club Paradise. free tournaments on Tuesdays, Thurdsays
and Sundays. Play between 10 am and 7:45 pm and the drawing is held at 8 pm.
Also, Local Mania often has specials at the restaurants at certain times.
- John Ascuaga's Nugget- John's Club. free tournaments on the later
part of the week. (Used to be Wed and Thurs, now I think it's Fri and Sat).
Longer playing time, and bigger prizes.
- El Dorado- every day! Never played it, but seen it advertised.
- Peppermill- Passport. Use it to get BOGO on the buffet breakfast
(as long as one is a senior)
