THE CLARK FAM1ILY ANCESTORS HELEN CLARK Mrs. Helen Clark was born August 24, 1823 at Linton, in Yorkshire, England,and started for America April 24, 1831 with her father, two sisters and twobrothers. They settled near Chicago, but soon afterwards the Indian War broke out under old Black Hawk, their Chieftan, and hundreds of white settlers south of Chicago were killed. A number of kind-hearted white men rode all over the country warning settlers to flee for safety. Helen Cutis (Clark), her father, sisters and brothers reached Fort Dearborn safely, as did others. For nineteen days and nights they were surrounded by hundreds of savage Indians who were preparing to storm the fort,when fortunately General Scott came across the lakes in a steamer with a regimment of soldiers. They made fort on the lakeshore near Dearborn, and when the Indians saw this they became frightened and made haste to escape. However, the soldiers pursued them to the Fox River and killed many of them. Helen Curtis married Franklin Clark in 1850 and they lived in the Chicago area until they moved to New Lisbon quite a few years later. Franklin died on August 6, 1884 in New Lisbon. Before she died on October 7, 1893. Helen had a long and painful illness which she bore with patience and christian resignation. She left behind a son and a daughter, and four grandchildren to mourn the loss of her. Also two brothers Joseph and Robert Curtis. Robert Curtis was Joe Curtis' grandfather. Joe lived with his parents Robert and Roxana ) ? Curtis near New Lisbon, Wisconsin. Joe was a teacher and principal of the New Lisbon High School for many years. Their Children: Mary C. Clark born November 14, 1853 - died April 3, 1374. Ella F. Clark born June 24, 1860 - died 1928. Married Carroll Dunn and they had two children. William Forrest Clark born march 25, 1866 - died 1934. He married Esther JOhnson born March 4, 1873 - died 1932. CHILDREN OF WIllIAM AND Esther(Johnson)Clark I. Forrest J. Clark born October 31, 1397 - died 1975. He married Della Hiney,June 14,1922. Their children: (1) Forrest Johnson Clark. They have four children (2) Eugene Clark II.Helen Guelda Clark born October 5, 1898 - died Oct.4,1947. She married Otto Johan Johnson.***my grandfather*** children: (1) Clark Harvard Johnson*** m. Their children: (1) William Walter Clark born on November 11, 1930. Married Judith Ann Osburn on August 23, 1958. She was born on April 6, 1938. They married at Elory, Wis. They have seven children: a) Debra Ann Clark born April 5, 1959. She married Gary Gorlen on May 20, 1978 and then later divorced in 1983. On Sept. 13, 1986, she married Robert Klumb who was born on Oct. 18, 1958. (b) Donna Marie Clark born on Sept. 19, 1961. She married Steven Wolford who was born on April 1, 1961. They married on Aug. 25, 1984. Their children are: Helene,by Steve's first marriage, and Ambre Nicole born on July 1,1987. (c) William Wayne Clark born on Feb. 18, 1963. He married Lori Ferdon on June 13, 1981 in New Lisbon, Wis. She was born on June 6, 1963. Their children are: Dusten Wayne born on Sept. 10, 1984 and Andrew Ray born on March 23, 1986. (d) Diane Julien Clark born on Sept. 21, 1964. She married John Thompson on July 9, 1983. He was born on Nov. 20,1959. Their children are: 1. Jessica Lorraine born on Oct.14,1983. 2. Tanya Marie born on March 27, 1985, and 3. Jack Royal born on March 29, 1987. (e) Denise Jean Clark born on Aug. 21, 1966. She married Michael J. Duesterbeck on October 20, 1984 in New Lisbon,Wis. He was born on Nov. 6, 1960. Their children are: 1.Joshu Michael born Sept. 1985, stillborn, and 2. Joseph James born on December 9, 1986. (f) Dora Lee Clark born on Aug. 7, 1979. (g) Walter Leo Clark born on Dec. 17, 1981. (Wally) (2) Shirley Marguerite Clark born on Nov. 21, 1931. She married George Malcolm Oakes on May 2, 1953 in New Lisbon, Wis. He was born on June 24, 1928. Their Children: (a) Steven George Oakes born on March 22, 1955. He married Brenda Barr on March 19, 1977. She was born on March 28,1955. Their children are: 1. Courtney Elizabeth born on Sept. 13,1981. 2.Mason George born on Oct1 26, 1984, and 3.Ashley Carolyn born on Dec. 19, 1985. (b) Curtis James Oakes born on July 28, 1958. (c) David Mark Oakes born on March 27, 1959. He married Amy Searles on Aug. 14, 1981 in Minn. MN. (d) Jolene Marie Oakes born on Aug. 21, 1?40. (3) Robert Pearsall Clark born on Jan. 1?, 1934. He married Jeloyce Grace Brunning On June 30, 1963 in Sabla, Iowa. She was born on Dec. 12, 1938. Their children are: Paul Steven Clark born on Sept. 24, 1964, and twins - Eric Michael Clark and Ellen Marie Clark born on Aug. 24, 1965. (c) Chris C. Clark born April 10, 1963. (d) Susan Ann Clark born November 29. 1964. Married Fredrick Allen Davis on June 1,1985. He was born on April 23, 1964 in Dubuque,Ia. (e) June Ann Clark born June 10, 1967. (f) Keith Karlton Clark born June 29, 1945. He married Mary Edna Davis, on August 5, 1972, born March 26, 19521in Dubuque,Ia.
