We'd like to start the challenges up again (past challenges issued by Marla and Leslie, guidelines and responses can be found here). A previous e-mail was a request for authors to help us out in creating these initial challenge "scenes." These aren't entire fics. They're just snippets that other writers can place in a larger, actual fic. These can be any length an author is willing to contribute, and past ones can be found here. If an author would like to write one of these, they would be sent privately to Stefanie and Sue. We'll then keep them to ourselves until we start sending one out to the list every month. I *think* if an e- mail is sent to [email protected], both of us will receive it? Each month we'd like to issue one of these challenge scenes out to the list. When we share it with the list, anyone can then respond to/answer the challenge and use it in a story, that can be any AU, any length. Past responses can be found at the first link above under "The Stories." For example, Carol Pahl used Scene #1 in her fic Death Watch. Each month we'd like to send out a new one to the list, but *any* challenge can be used at *any* time, even if the challenge was issued in August and it's now November. I'm sure you could use the original challenges linked above still, too. Thanks, Stefanie and Sue

JD sat, staring out at the sunrise. He sat quietly, a forlorn expression marring his youthful features. Last week life had seemed so good, so perfect. He had everything he needed and so much more than he ever expected. Now, all of that seemed to be gone. Everyone was mad at him. And he didn't know why. Buck was avoiding him. Chris had simply glared and walked off the last time JD had tried to speak to him. Ezra, Josiah, Nathan, each man would speak to him only if confronted directly. None of them would look him in the eyes. Even Vin, the most tolerant of all the peacekeepers, shunned him, choosing to walk the other way or ride out without a nod. JD sighed and watched the sun come up on the day he would abandon his home...his family...the life that was no more.
