Janet Jackson has sold ova 50 milli-yaun records worldwide, dominated the music industry, and inspired milli-yauns of fans across the globe. She's even inspired some of today's hottest celebrities like Jennifer Lopez to get in the game. "When I first saw Pleasure Principle....it just inspried me to get into this business. I mean I was a little girl tryna do every move she was doing." (JLo) And yes March 10, 2001 her status was made offical on MTV for she was inducted as an ICON! And like that picture on the right...Janet's not only #1, but also the first to receive the honor which was well deserved. But we all know Janet had to work hard to get to where she be at tah-day, so let's start dis here sturry from the beginning. She doesn't have a "rags to riches" sturry, but she does have a sturry. More like an identy sturry. "Her name made her famous" but her talent and skillz got her where she is today. So let's relive this umm Cinderella sturry...well I'ma actually tell her life sturry like it's a Disney sturry because it does have a happy ending.

Once upon a time in a small town called Gary, lived the Jackson family. Now the Jackson's were already quite a big family with 2 young girls and 6 boys. Yet still another addition was about to be made to the Jackson family, a very special addition. On May 16th 1966 little Janet Damita Jo was born. With her cute little baby nose and bright baby eyes, baby Janet was like a drop of sunshine. While the Jackson were not a wealthy family, baby Janet�s older brothers had special talents that would move the whole family to the big and exciting city Los Angeles. Baby Janet�s brothers could dance and sing in such a special way that would earn the Jackson's the title of music�s royal family. So little baby Janet is now Princess Baby Janet. Most of baby Janet�s days were spent like any ordinary princess. She stayed home with her brother Prince Randy, while mother Queen Katherine took care of them. She often spent time with her older sisters Princess LaToya and Princess Rebbie, although Princess LaToya and Princess Rebbie were much older than Baby Janet, they still managed to spend time together.

Little baby Janet would sometimes tag along with her brothers, the Jackson princes, who were out doing their royal duties performing for large crowds and making music in the studio. She would play with her brothers, climb on chairs, tables, just about anything she could reach the top of. She was just the cutest little thing. She loved being around her bug brothers, and the princes enjoyed having her around just as much.

Like all young princesses there comes a time when they must learn the duties of a princess. Young Janet, no longer a baby, began performing as an opening act, along with Prince Randy, for the other princes the Jackson 5 in the city that never sleeps Las Vegas. Princess Janet became more known to the public through TV. She had roles on the sitcoms �Good Times�, �Diff�rent Strokes�. When Princess Janet turned sweet sixteen, her father King Joseph suggested that she start a singing career of her own like her brothers. Janet loved to sing and dance so she did as the king wished. Under the supervision of the king the princess released her first album titled �Janet Jackson�. The album did not add up to the success of her brothers sadly. So the princess focused on her studies. Young Janet worked on all these TV shows and her music career while still receiving her education because all princesses must be well educated. Once young Janet had graduated from high school, she planned on going to college, however King Joseph had other plans for the young princess. He requested that she do another TV show called �Fame�, young Janet has always wished to make her father happy so she did as the King wanted.

Now 18 Princess Janet has reached a not so happy time in her life, doing a TV show she did not want to do and growing tired of being the obedient princess letting her parents tell her everything to do. Then along came prince charming, James of the Debarge's. The Debarge's were another well-known musical family. Princess Janet and Prince James were so in love they were in their own little world, although the king and queen did not approve of their daughter�s relationship with the young prince they eloped. It would not turn out to be the fairytale wedding that all princesses� get as James left the scared and vulnerable princess alone in their hotel room all nite while he hung out with friends. When the newlyweds returned to the Jackson estate James was not greeted kindly as the King and Queen were deeply hurt and upset at what their daughter had done. While trying to settle as a new wife the princess still had to work on �Fame� and she also put out a new album still under the direction of King Joseph. �Dreamstreet� did no better than her first album did. Things took a turn for the worse when the once thought to be prince charming James got caught up in drugs. Her family and friends pleaded with her to leave the rotten James but Janet was too blinded by love to see the dangers ahead if she stayed with him. It took almost a year before princess Janet could see the evil in James and when she did she put an end to the fairytale nightmare and annulled her marriage.

Now free from the ties of marriage the princess felt the need to break free from other shackles holding her down. She asked to be released from her contract holding her to �Fame�, the producers agreed. There was another happy turn of events in Princess Janet�s life a close friend who was the princess� shoulder to cry on during though times in her marriage became a light in so much darkness surrounding her. She had found happiness in a Mexican in shining armor name Rene, an aspiring photographer/director. Whenever time got tough her Mexican in shining armor was always there to console her and put a smile on the princess� face.

Things were starting to look brighter for our young princess, but there was still something holding her back, her music career was still under the direction of King Joseph. Determined remake Janet�s image for success, he brought in on of the knights of A&M record�s round table, John McClain. Sir John brought in two amigos of his, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Now These two very laidback, no worries kinda guys. The first suggestion that was made from Sit John, Jimmy and Terry to stop letting King Joseph have control over her music. Although she knew it would upset the king greatly she went along with the plan. Ready to start a new stage in her life she even took it one step farther and moved of the Jackson castle and into her own place with her lover and best friend Rene.

In 1985, with the princess unsure of what will happen with all the new changes she has made in her life went on a journey to Minneapolis to create a new sound, a new Janet. The outcome was beautiful, as they created songs like what have you done for me lately and �Nasty�, which would soon be come classics. The album �Control� was a No. 1 pop hit selling 10 million copies worldwide. And had shown the world that Janet Jackson, the young baby princess of the Jackson�s was breaking out on her own.

Things were starting to look much brighter for the troubled princess, but even with all the success of her third album she was still very unhappy on the inside. For a princess who is always out in the public eye her appearance is always an important issue. For our dear princess, her weight has always been a problem as she would go on and off of diets and up and down on the scale. The princess didn�t let her insecurities stop her from doing what she he loves to do though make music. In 1989 she released her fourth album �Rhythm Nation� along with the album came even more success. It was a No. 1 album, selling over 10 million copies worldwide, four No. 1 singles on top of three other top 5 hit singles and took her on a world tour that was the top selling debut tour in music history. While on tour Janet had begun to reinvent her image. With the last single she put out for �Rhythm Nation� she decided to show the world the �new Janet� going for a much slimmer, sexier look that had everyone eyes on the princess.

In 1991 the joyous occasions just kept on flowing for Janet. After making the decision to leave A&M records she signed a $32 million contract with Virgin records, it made her the most highest paid female singer in the world, and at the time was the biggest record contract in music history. It was this year also when the princess and the Mexican in shining armor Rene, who had also became not only her partner in love but also her partner in music, secretly married. Their marriage was only known by family and those closest to them, while Rene remained �the boyfriend� to the rest of the world. The next year Janet decided she wanted to get back into acting for a little bit so she stared in a movie with a young rebel named Tupac. Many people had different views of the movie but filming the movie was a fun experience for the princess. She met some people who had lived a very different life than she did. Being around these people brought out a different side of the princess that had never been seen before. She became more outgoing, not as shy as she had been her whole life and she was cussin like a trucker.

Then our foul-mouthed princess went a step farther when she came out with her fifth album she called �janet.�. This time Princess Janet was really breaking out of her shell, she had the whole world in shock when she came out with a new sexy image, sexy video, and singing songs about sex, love and more sex. Millions of guys around the world were dying to know just exactly all the things Janet would do if she were their girl. And millions of women admired Janet�s new sexy look and body. The success of �janet.�, was amazing giving her six more top 10 hit singles, it sold over 15 million copies and took her on another sold out world tour. Janet was proving to the world that she deserves to be the Princess of Pop.

In 1996 Janet made music history when the Princess did a duet with her brother Michael who had now be crowned the King of Pop. King Michael and Princess Janet�s song �Scream� won a Grammy and the video is still the most expensive video ever made. This same year Janet reminded the world why she had become the Princess of Pop by releasing a greatest hits album �Design of a Decade�. Shortly after that she proved her worthiness of the Princess of Pop title even more known when she re-signed with Virgin records for an $80 million contract which made her the highest paid female singer of all time and among the few highest paid recording artist in the world.

It looked like our princess was finally living happily ever after but life was not all happy for her. After years of holding back things that brought her a lot of pain going as far back as her childhood at the Jackson castle, it all hit her like a tone of bricks and she fell into a depression. Help was on the way though along came her Mexican in shining armor with the help of Queen Katherine, friends of Princess Janet and an un-named dark stranger the princess met in the desert to help her deal with her pain. Janet didn�t let her emotional troubles stop her from making her music. Working on her 6th album worked as therapy for her as she chose to deal with what she was going through in song and let the world know what she had been going through instead of keeping it to her self like she had been doing for so long.

The Album �The Velvet Rope� had different opinions from the public however it was clear that Janet had found some peace within herself and the album still did very well selling over 7 million. The Velvet Rope Tour was an even bigger success selling out in every city it went to around the globe.

Somewhere along the road Janet and the love of her life started to grow apart, then in 1999 they split up. Later on the marriage was made known to the world when Rene filed for divorce and files $10 million suite against the princess. That is the last we ever hear from the Mexican in rusted armor.

One day Princess Janet decided to make a return to the big screen. She co-stared with a funnyman named Eddie, The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps was a box-office hit and Janet had another hit single �Doesn�t Really Matter� that was put on the soundtrack to the movie. Once the movie was done it was time for the princess to return to what she does best, music. Many were starting to doubt her ability to maintain her title as Pop Princess. A lot of evil doers were even giving her title to little munchkins who were using what they learned from Princess Janet to become famous. Now Janet is ready to make the world stop in their tracks, she�s got a new album "All For You", a new image, and a new positive outlook on life. The first single "All For You" stayed atop the Billboard Charts for 7 str8 weeks, and made radio history when it was named "most added song" to the radio. I guess you can say Ms. Jackson is back and better than ever. No one�s life is perfect, but Janet is living her life for herself now still learning lessons along the way and finally starting to live Happily Ever After.
