Watch Repair Begins
Although I had tinkered with watches from an early age, I had never done anything other than changing batteries.  After returning from the NAWCC museum, I increasingly wanted to learn more about them, repair them, trade in them, and so on.  I also (correctly) thought it would make an excellent wintertime hobby I could partake in when I had to stay inside the house, as my garage is not insulated or heated.  Saima enthusiastically endorsed this plan, as she does anything that keeps me around her (for the occasional "could you do this please?" ;-)  After much research, I started to build a watchmaker's bench and to purchase the best tools I could find (tools are never something I skimp on).  By June of 2006, this is what the bench looked like (during a project):

The watch I am working on here is an Ernest Borel pocketwatch from the 1930's with 15 Jewels and a Unitas movement. Saima insisted on keeping a rose on the bench when I was working on it, so that I could occasionally smell it, and it looks nice.  :-)
