View the hits by decade...........

    1950's ---- the birth of rock and roll. Elvis leads the way as music becomes the
                         cornerstone of youth culture.

     1960's ---- the British invasion, led by the Beatles, hits the U.S.....many of these
                         artists and songs still influence artists today.

     1970's ---- from the Doors to the breakup of the Beatles....the rise and fall of
                         disco....and the introduction of new wave music.

     1980's ---- MTV changes the music scene forever....punk rock turns into techno
                         pop and let's not forget all of those "hair metal" bands we all secretly
                         loved.

     1990's ---- grunge rock replaces hair metal....smooth R&B harmonies and hip hop
                        establish themselves and popular music mainstays.

     2000 + ---- country music resurfaces on the pop chart, as hip hop and R&B
