Religion

While religion is normally something I deign to discuss with just anyone, seeing how I live in the buckle of the bible belt, and my beliefs are anything but mainstream. I will set it out here for posterity's sake. Now I will prewarn you that my beliefs of god are not really orthodox and would of course be under fire if left open to debate, but I am not trying to win anyone over to my beliefs, I believe everyone needs to make up their own damn minds about God and religion.

My belief regarding relgion, creation, god, etc is fairly simple. From a young age I found myself being especially adept at puzzling out spiritual matters with the natural knack that had been inborn in me. I started realizing also at a young age that what was being taugh in church was going not only against what the bible itself taught, but also against what the sense of god within myself, which I had grown to know, said. I grew to see the church as an extremely judgemental and sometimes malicious force. I mean, look at the history books, Christians waged some of the bloodiest wars in HISTORY rivaling HITLER himself!! (Eventually I grew out of my own judgementalism about the church and grew to understand much about god and religion in the long run because of it)

Anyway, while I lived in Salem, Massachusetts, (a spiritual mecca in the earth of today, you can find every religion in the world there,) and I set about learning everything I could about as many of those religions as I could. What I found was startling. The basis and stories of all these relgions were the same. The more I studied them, them more plain it became that this was the truth of the matter. I was shocked and amazed at how many stories the bible shared with many religions of the world of that day which were MUCH much older than the christian religion itself. In essence, in the end I came up with a theory which I beleive is the truth.

My belief is this, In the beginning there was God, I feel perhaps he got lonely, and so he created the heavens and the earth. Animals sprang forth from the creative life essence he had formed there, but he still wasn't happy with just "unintelligent or inferior beasts" so he created servants (later to become known as angels and demons). While it was nice to finally have something he could communicate with on a more intelligent level, he was still not happy, so he made humans from a part of himself, giving them a devine spark (a soul) so that we could communicate with him on his level and be more closely connected to him than animals, or even the angels. (I believe also that he likely did this on other planets in the galaxy as well... if you are a godlike being with vast creative powers and create a universe because you are lonely, out of billions of solar systems in the universe, it seems wasteful in the extreme that only one is given life.)

(I believe also that this communion god made with man, whom he had blessed with a piece of himself, and given the gift of free will/choice, made some of the angels [demons] angry and they rebelled against god, and the humans, and set out to destroy this 'new kid on the block' which god had created to be closer to him than the faithful servants which came first.)

Anyway, after making each man, he realized that man needed a woman, or like god who was a part of them, man too would get lonely, just as god had. Now in some religions god made woman out of man, and this is the reason that I believe god is both male an female, because if god took woman out of man, then prior to that separation man had to be both male and female and thus being made in the image of god, and so logically, god must be both male and female. (It also explains how on rare occasion [ about 1% of the population according to http://8e.devbio.com/article.php?ch=17&id=266 ], there are humans born who are at birth both male and female, and the few I have met in real life that were born like this, they are sensitives. To me this also explains why you have both males and female across the planet who were born males but say they have always felt they were suppose to be female, and visa versa, females who said they feel they should have been born a man, and many of them also seem sensitive to spirituality. No I am not saying that you have to be a hermaphrodite or gay to be sensitive. I am straight and according to my mother, and her grandmother before her... have always had this gift.)

Moving on, I feel he/she ('God') made several pairs of humans, perhaps one in asia, one in north america, one in south america, one in europe, one in africa. I believe this is why we have different races, because god created different people in different areas, and they developed differently because of the environment of their home. Now I believe this is true because according to the bible, when Adam and Eve were thrown out of the garden, they went out and met other peoples.... If they were the ONLY people alive... where the heck did other peoples come from?

Anyway, I think God would walk and talk with these first human men, and eventually came to tell them the truth of exactly who and what he was, but this idea was fundamentally flawed in many ways because for the first several millinea that man was alive, knowledge was passed by word of mouth and not by written records, and thus the truth of who god was eventually changed and transformed until the truth held by the african couple, differed from the truth of the north american couple, and both from the truth of the asian couple, or even the european couple... I am sure you've sat in a circle when you were a kid and whispered something to the person on your right, and they whispered it to the person on their right and they to the one on their right and so on, until, by the time it gets back to you, each person who has heard and retold it had embellished it and added their own flair or flavor to it and in the end, when it gets back to you, it is a foreign and completely different story. This is how I believe the religions have evolved into what they are today. I believe that ALL BENEVOLENT religions are all serving the same god by a different name, and maybe a different face, it could very well be that the "virgin mary' worshipped by catholics to another is the mother goddess of ancient pagan religions in a new incarnation.

My belief is that if you look at all these different religions and find the similarities, in those similarities you will find the truth of who god is, not in the differences, because in the differences you will find only man, where he has, out of free will made god into what suited him, and not what god really is. So seek god in the similarities, the kindnesses of the religions, the unity and you will find the true god and peace.

To me, not only does this explain god and the religions at a glace, this also explains the malicious created beings as well as the benevolent ones that still feel protective of humans as a whole.

There was recently a program on the discovery channel that I think everyone should see, while I will not try to tell people how to believe, I have seen the show and I think that it is something that should be considered in today's world. Click here Lost tomb of Jesus

I, for my own reasons, do believe in reincarnation. I may not do so as some believe in it, as I do not believe we can come back as a cow or a fly or some silliness such as that. I believe that many of us have lived as some other person in a past life. I further believe from things I have experienced in my own life that there are certain souls that repeat themselves in our lives and I feel I have actually met some of those souls in my lifetime. I believe that my very own daughter is, in fact, one of these souls to me.

As I said, my intent with all this is not to change anyone or their beliefs. my one goal in life is to show people to be open minded and think for themselves, and not be sheep, led to their deaths and told how to think. The religions of the world who think that their belief system is the one true way and try to force that on others I find are unenlighten, egotistical, closed minded and generally "wrong".

Enlightened people share and if a person does not share and is not open to their beliefs, they do not force those beliefs on that person but are secure in their own beliefs and allow the other person to keep their own if they so wish. Even Jesus of Nazareth advised not to "cast your 'pearls' before the swine" and to Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measurement ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote (speck) that is in thy brothers eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and them shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brothers eye. Matthew 7:1-5

Basically, if the person you are talking to is resistant to your beliefs, don't cast your pearls of wisdom to be trampled into the dust, in other words, save your breath and let them believe what they want to believe as is their right.

For instance the religions that have over the past several millinea that have started WARS and MURDERED people in the name of god and destroyed cultures and civilizations to try to convert a heathen race to their beliefs, I believe is ludicrous in the extreme. The biggest and most famous, or rather, infamous example is christianity's "Great Crusades" how many thousands were killed to force christanity on the rest of the world in the name of an alledged "god of love"? Number rivaling Adolf Hitler's own atrocities. It is asinine.
