Thistlewood is reknowned for its ancient forests, rumored to still house Ents, its frozen mountains and its seemingly endless mines. Most metals and ores in the New Order and those traded to the elves come from the mines in the Kingdom of Air. Recently the mines have been taken over by an alliance of unions, which sometimes get into conflict with the noble Sorlouns.
The country itself is cold and unattractive but the locals are much nicer. While most are involved with the mining and infining industries, they are much more personable than at first appearance. Large celebrations and festivals are common, possibly to add some color to the mountainsides if nothing else.
Thistlewood is also the best place in the New Order where a dwarf might be seen. Some dwarves stayed in hiding during the local mountains during the Dungeon Wars and have since moved back into civilization.
Thistlewood is experiencing a a declining mage population. Air Magic is in high demand at ports, where ships could use a steady and continous wind in their sails; and Thistlewood is a rather cold and dark place. The bustling and lively scenes at Rineport have attracted a great number of migrant Air Wizards and their families.
