Soft Pawn

You can tell there is something amiss when your hand slides between the coins. The first sensation is one of bitter cold, numbingly so, but then you realise that it is fantastically hot. The pain is excrutiating, and it takes every ounce of your willpower to drag your hand back up.

To your horror your forearm has been replaced with a charred stump, a smoking ruin of an arm that sends you stumbling. In your shock you knock the urn with your other arm, a distinctly unfortunate manoeuvre that results in the pot tipping towards you. What gushes out, instead of silver coins, seems more like molten lava. It spreads over your body, eating rapidly into the skin, and the terrible shock sends you to the floor.

Struggling to remain conscious, you whole body feels aflame, and you are sure there cannot be much left of you.

There isn't. Within ten minutes your melted body gives up and expires.

Go back and try something else.
