| Born in Scotland in May 1850 his family would soon depart four years later from Glasgow to Canada. Nothing of significance is known throughout Cream's early years, or even his late teens. In 1876 he graduated with merit as a student of medicine. Around the time of his graduation he met a Miss Flora Elizabeth Brooks, and soon after discovering that she was pregnant Cream aborted the baby, and almost Brooks along with it. Her father was furious and demanded marriage, Cream was drug down the isle where he wed Miss Brooks. The next day Cream set sail for England where he enrolled as a post graduate student at St. Thomas' Hospital and then finished his degree with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Edinburgh. Cream was what you would call a progressive serial killer, his first murders clumsy but as time went on he got better at his trade. He returned to Canada after graduating school in Scotland he soon gained a reputation as an abortionist. A chambermaid named Kate Gardener was found dead behind Cream's rooms and next to her body was a bottle of chloroform. Even though it was known she intended to visit cream in hopes of an abortion and all the evidence stacked against him, he somehow slipped through the cracks and was not charged. In Chicago Cream opened an abortion clinic which claimed its first fatality (non-fetal) a Julia Faulkner. On the 23rd of August 1880 Cream was taken into custody on a charge of causing the death but somehow the lucky Dr. slipped through the cracks of the judicial system once again. Apart from his abortion clinic Cream started making bogus medicines and selling them something quite common with Dr's among the time and quite profitable. A man named Daniel Stott was buying a medicine from Cream to "help" his epilepsy and was so impressed with his improvement in his health that he sent his pretty young wife in person to Chicago to purchase the medicine. The inevitable happened and when Stott became a nuisance to the liason, his medicine was laised with strichnine. After exhumating the body and finding this vital peice of evidence Cream was sentenced to life imprisonment, however based on good behaviour, he was released in 1891. He then went back to Canada to claim an inheritence of $16,000 and then quickly set sale for England yet again. After killing several prostitutes by putting strichnine in capsule form, Dr. Cream then abandoned his killings for love. He became engaged and eventually married a Laura Sabbatini. The respite was not long and soon after being wed Cream began killing again, more prostitutes lay in agony before they finally died from his capsules. Cream then felt a need of acknowledgment and boasted to several of his friends the details he knoew of the cases and even took one friend on a tour of the various crime scenes. It is fairly certain that Cream had been moving through the basic stages of needs which a serial killer requires all along. However due to his boasting and a confident Inspector Tunbridge, Cream was confronted and charged with the murders on the 3rd of June 1982. He was sentence to execution, and at the gallows announced "I am Jack" a very improbably outcry mainly for attention. |
