Welcome to the Blue Max Page.

This site will allow everyone to follow the brave exploits of the pilots who fly in the
Blue Max Campaigns at the Krystal Keep game store located in Kettering, Ohio.
For those of you not familiar with Blue Max, here is a brief description.  Blue Max started as a board game simulating WW1 arial combat that was released in the mid 70's by Games Design Workshop. The game rules were later rereleased as a table top  miniatures wargame using airplane models ranging in scale from 1/144 to 1/48. The models are clipped onto an antenna that is mounted on a 5" base. The game is played on large mats printed with a 5" hex pattern. We use the vinyl mats from the old "Battle Masters" game. There are also rules variants available online for WW2 including the Battle of Britain, Defense of the Third Reich and Battle for the Pacific.
We are currently playing Battle of Britain and the original WW1 rules. We will also eventually move into the Battle for the Pacific. Here is a brief explanation of how we play Blue Max.   Each plane has its own unique maneuver sheet that shows how each plane can move. Each turn the players chooses a manuver he would like their plane to fly.
After the maneuver is picked it is recorded on the planes record sheet. The record sheet keeps track of the planes movement, altitude, ammo and damage.
After all the moves are plotted, all the players move their planes. All movement and combat are done simultaneously by all players. Once all planes have moved combat occurs.

This is what it looks like!
