Yes, it was bound to happen: There are characters that are going to be
dead ringers for "Separated at Birth," Tetsuo being no exception.

General McDougall from Spriggan
Yeesh, it's Tetsuo and Akira in one blue kid (or really pale, he looks
pretty blue in my screencaps of him). Not only that, he even had the
wires-wires-everywhere gimmick to further it. Oh yeah, and he was tinkered
with by scientists and is a bit demented, yadda-yadda.
"I have more wires than you."

Tetsuo tribute or ripoff, it's your call... I think he's cool. Seeing the
lack of quality Akira games (PINBALL...?!) I say playing as a Tetsuoid guy
with blue or white hair and a red cape is better than nothing. That and he
has Nozomu, Tetsuo's very VA from over fifteen years earlier, backing him to
further... the, well, Tetsuoness. He's the only reason why I've even
bothered to seek out a ROM of KOF even though I don't really like fighting
games much. He does feel a bit like Tetsuo, albeit with killer drill arms
and guns. Oh yes, and he even go so far to wear that jacket outfit of Tet's
like in Book 2.
Good enough, I suppose.

Vegeta from Dragonball Z
They look a bit similar when it comes to spiky hair and large *giggle,
snort* foreheads. They also have short tempers and inferiority complexes
with Kakarotto/Kaneda. (And both of those guys are happy people and
the main characters. Doesn't that make you think!) Oh yeah, and both get
their asses beaten at various points and serve as plot devices.
Interestingly, I also thought of Tetsuo as a mini-Vegeta when I first saw
him. I almost made him Vegeta's evil rival of doom in one stupid forum RPish
story thing

Ushio from Ushio and Tora
This was pointed out to me by a friend of mine, Knuxie-chan. While I have
yet to see the anim� or read the manga (if there is any), just the physical
resemblances are pretty scary. Short hair, lack of bangs, roundy little
eyes, maybe the same sort of nose... That girl in the picture below even
looks like Kaori. Hmmm...
