First Time?

Okay, so you're most likely wondering 'Why Tetsuo?' Why not someone like Kaneda or Kai or even the amazingly popular-for-a-short-lived-character Yamagata? Why not outside of Akira? Why not Ryouga or Inuyasha or Haku or Auron?

Before we get into that, let's inform the people who the Tetmeister is. Most shrines usually say a little something about the character in question anyway so I suppose it's customary:

Tetsuo is one of the main characters from Katsuhiro Otomo's landmark works Akira. As the work is complex, it can be said he is neither a protagonist or an antagonist but more of a proponent to the story. He, sans psychic powers and mental ordeal, is just about your average street scum biker tagging alongside his childhood friend Kaneda amidst the chaotic backdrop of post-apocalypse Neo-Tokyo. (*gasp*) After the unfortunate bike accident and a hospital trip (actually, more than once in both mediums), Tetsuo's once dormant psychic power grows to the point of being out of control. Then the movie and manga splits, both going to where Tetsuo finally is controlled by his power, his body mutates with it, Akira 'takes' him away. La dee da. The End. Paradox.

I'll leave his fate up to you. That's just the basic gist of the character's history.

Oh, reasons?

Reasons why Fire Griffin, the webmistress, established this site:
- Tetsuo is a deeper character outside of mindlessly standing there and screaming 'Kaneda!' Obviously, these people have neglected to read the fantastic manga. =3
- He is obviously misunderstood for the reason above and there is a startling lack of fansites, not only devoted to him but even Akira as a whole itself. Yes, Akira is old but, look, Star Wars is even older and it's insanely popular. Nothing wrong with giving a cult classic a little fandom, hum?
- 80's-early 90's toons are awesome. No contest. Akira lived in the 80's decade, most of it as a manga, and rode on its fame for quite sometime in the 90's. Its '01 revival in the US is a blessing.
- Back to Tetsuo! Well, he is cute in his own right. Yes, he is ugly sometimes but he has to be - are you going to smile and be all cuddly when a naval fleet wants to blow your empire to little rocky road chunks bobbing around in the sea? If you're looking for something eye-gougingly cute and fluffy, Akira is most likely not for you; go pick up something by CLAMP. ^_~
- Tetsuo, although many females shall find me odd for this, is also fairly sexy in his own right. The Wild Child look in Volume 4 with that flowing hair as well as the appearance in the second half of Volume 2 is quite... how I should say? Rrooowl.He has his ugly moments as well as his cute ones. Revel in the cute ones.
- I was pressured by this nefarious fiend.
- He deserves your pie.
- He deserves your full, undivided attention. Most of the time.
- Hey, for someone that gets his body mutilated in the most horrendous manner, he has taken it rather well afterward.
- That forehead problem is no big deal; grow some bangs, problem solved.
- Ahhhh...?

Okay so maybe that's not everything. Big deal. I think you're convinced FG is a lunatic at this point and maybe... a tad unhealthily obsessed.

Big deal. I know worse. Muuuuch worse, man.

So this site popped up. Hello site. If you're a casual fan, go attack the 'basic' atypical sections present on just about every site. (Fanart, fanfiction, etc.) The rarer maniacal ravenous fan can check out the... stranger sections I've thrown up (Ew.) for your pleasure* once you're through with the casual fare.

* - Or for morbid curiosity.

What are these little icons?

These are just little markers I've made to indicate what sort of content... is the content in question. You know, something like you're see on Fark.com with the little news tags. They are as follows and forever growing as I make more of the little suckers:

	Weird	Akira is a weird, morbid little anim� - definitely not something like Sailor Moon or Card Captors. (I doubt a strict 'cute-anim�/shoujo' fan would find it appealing.) And yes, content can get stranger than the actual anim�/manga itself. Just watch me!
	Disturbing	Stupid mutation scene. I think this is obvious enough. You know, disturbing as in "Look, ma': I got tentacles for fingers! Whee-hee!"
	Romantic	For anything lovey-dovey whether it'd be of the straight or yaoi-kind.
	Mystery	Mmm, I smell a tasty conspiracy a'brewin'. If it goes 'Whodunit?' he'll be there.
	Dirty/Hentai	Sure Geocites'll nuke my widdle ass but Akira was never a clean children's show anyway! Raunchy is an odd side dish...
	Sad	I hope I don't have to explain this; how could I in a serious manner? Boo hoo. Tetsuo's dead. I'm sad that I'm flying.
	Tired	This is really more of an update-based icon. I doubt I'll find a use for it unless you want me to consider something you send me boring.
Seasonal
	Halloween	Arr-oooooh. I doubt the Japanese celebrate it but Tet would be all for the candy anyway.
	Thanksgiving	"Why am I even posing for this one?" Yeah, this is a strictly American custom but it was done for the sake of an update during this time. (When I have days off from school!)
	Christmas	Now we getting into a holiday the both of us can celebrate. Ho ho ho. You get coal. Ha ha ha.

* Okay, look. I am sorry about the terrible kanji attempts on the signs. It would look better if it were larger and not at a 45-degree angle but I think Tet's expression tells the story well enough.
