First Update
On
September 6, I received a few calls at about 7a from the Inspector General
Glenn Fine’s fax number 202 514 4001, and each time I answered, it was a fax
machine dialing me. I had filed
complaint again August 31, 2006, and was still submitting evidence and
information, both by e-mail and fax. And
I had been faxing outside office hours so that in the morning they would find
my information.
After
receiving the calls from a fax machine, I received an actual telephone call and
it was one of the secretaries who had dialed my number. When I asked if that had been she trying to
call me just previously, she said she didn’t know anything about the previous
calls from Fine’s fax number. She told
me that the information I had faxed there over the weekend had been received
but that 202 514 4001 was not Fine’s fax number. She said that this information had been
referred to Fine, but that from then on it would not
be referred any longer therefore I needed to use another fax number. And she gave me what I have seen is a general
OIG fax number 202 616 9898 and told me that this was Glenn Fine’s fax
number.
The
fax number for Glenn Fine is 202 514 4001 according to the OIG website
http://www.usdoj.gov/oig/offices/directory.htm and also according to my past
experiences in directly sending him information there. And I had had to stop short in faxing him
information over the weekend because the line was suddenly disconnected during
what seemed to be a perfectly normal transmission. It was as though someone had come in and just
taken the phone off the hook. And as for
the 202 616 9898 number she gave me to use instead, it was either off the hook
or receiving other faxes constantly because no matter when I called after
midnight on September 8, 2006 and through to the morning, it was always busy.
I
spend the day at the library getting the pertinent e-mails to the OIG, and then
at night I fax from home for as long as I can manage to keep my eyes open and
not fall asleep in the chair by the fax machine. A benefit to faxing at that hour is that the
phone lines should be free.
