Hey –
Ever wondered what all those funny exe files in your Windows directory
did? It turns out that many are useful
utilities, the most useful of all being Freecell.exe (of course). But Winver
comes a very close second. Not only
does it tell you what version of Windows you are using, it… oh, wait, that’s
all it does. Run it and see for
yourself J.
Other
Windows programs which can be run from ‘Run…’ and are actually cool
are: dxdiag, mkcompat, msconfig. Try ‘em out, but don’t use them without
remembering what you did so you can set it back if it all goes horribly wrong!
Other Downloads:
Nuke the Moon
– A cool 2-player game where one person is the Nuke and the other is the
Moon. A must-play!
Password Revealer
– Those funny ***s won’t stop you any more!
Just run and follow the instructions.
Stealth Mass
Mailer - Anonymously send 1 - 1 million e-mails. I don’t know any Mail servers which you can connect to, except
for monsoon.scs.vuw.ac.nz, which only works on the SCS computers at VUW. Try searching the net, or use your ISP’s
Mail-sending server. The program takes
a little getting used to so ‘mail
me for help (or if you want help with any of the other programs found
here). Most ISPs don’t like you
Bulk-Mailing people, and usually kick you off if you do. J
Get IP –
Find out your IP address quickly.
Moslo – A
program that lets you temporarily slow down your computer so you can play those
old DOS games.
URHere – Want
to know how many pixels wide your picture is, or if that icon really is in the
middle of the screen? Or are you just a
weirdo? Then d/l this program. It tells you the pixel coordinates of your
mouse pointer.
BeSysAdmin –
Tool to make you a local NT 4 administrator.
Just copy the files into temp, run them, then delete them and any
directories they create (eg: C:\temp\winnt).
Tetris Lite
– It’s a Tetris clone. Of all the
millions of Tetris clones out there, however, this is one of them.
