The Dance to "Once and For All"
Choreographed by Rachel Buccicone
With Help from Sarah Savage, Dana Norwood, and Lindsay Kerr
This dance was designed as a quartet; however, it can be done as a larger group.

4 people enter the stage one at a time starting with #1 in the back and #2-#4 entering infront of the preceding dancer.
Person #1 enters stage from either side with drag walks on the intro music.
#1:
This is the story you wanted to write-- offering arms one at a time (Right, Left)

#1:
Well, tonight is the night that you can-- pas de cheval right, chasse right opening arms from 1st position, pas de cheval back with left leg, turn left into lunge (left leg front), layout continuing arms to 3rd position.

#2 (#1 mirrors):
Just get this done and by dawn's early light-- Chasse right, saut de chat, throw Right arm up (jazz hand) on "LIGHT"

#2 (#1 mirrors):
You can finish the fight you began-- 3 hip shifts (Left, right, left), drag left

#1 & #3 (#2 mirrors):
This time we're in it to stay-- Chasse Right, prep 5th, Stag jump

#2 & #4 (#1 & #3 Mirror):
Think about seizing the day-- Pas de bourree right, straddle jump (arms V in jazz hands) on "SEIZING", pull Left leg behind, lunge on Right leg, right arm reaching forward in epaule.

Everyone:
Think of that train as she rolls into old Santa Fe-- form a cirlce and dance around it clockwise: (slowly) stamp turn right, chaines, fan right leg, unwind

Tell 'em I'm on my way!-- Chasse developpe right (Arms in a V)

See old man Pulitzer snug in his bed-- 4 drag walks to a 2 line formation (#1 and #2 in front, #3 and #4 in windows behind.)

He don't care if we're dead or alive-- Pie Eater's turn*, pull arms out to flat 2nd and schmalts arms on "ALIVE"

Three satin pillows are under his head-- Prep facing front left corner, attitude turn, rainbow arms**, compass-type reach to left (right base leg), soutenu right (arms down)

While we're begging for bread to survive-- continue arm movement, sweep reach arms forward (right to left), reach arms slightly upward, look up on "SURVIVE"

Joe, if you're still counting sheep-- Left outward pirouette into battement turns, up and extened on "JOE" and "SHEEP" (counts 2 and 4)

Wake up, and read 'em and weep-- continue battement turns, up on "WAKE" (also lift head to look up on "WAKE") and "WEEP"

You got your thugs with their stick and their clubs-- 4 drag walks (front line goes left, back line heads right)

Yeah, but we got a promise to keep-- chaines (front right, back left), axil, land on "KEEP"  and throw arms up in jazz hands

Once and for all something tells me the tide'll be turnin'-- 4 different parts done simultaneously:
#1: facing back, to her right, starting on the words "THE TIDE'LL BE", stamp turn, chaines, roll over feet to knees facing front left corner on "TURNING"
#2: to the right, starting on "THE TIDE'LL BE", throw roll, full body straddle roll on "TURNING"
#3: fan arms together, right to left, into a right cartwheel on "TURNING"
#4: starting on " 'LL BE", chaines right, double fan leap on "TURNING"
should end with front 2 people on knees facing opposite corners, and 2 people in back in same window between front 2, standing, facing away from eachother towards opposite corners.

Once and for all there's a fire inside me that won't stop burnin'-- reach out upward palmed hands and pull in to stomach, contracting chest inward on "INSIDE", four part:
#1: reach right arm back (focus follows) on "WON'T" and hold until "BURNING", plant left foot on "BURN" and plant right foot on "ING" to stand up.
#2: reach left arm back on "STOP" and hold until "BURNING", plant left foot on "BURN", plant right foot on "ING" to stand up
#3: reach left arm back on "ING" (of BURNIN)
#4: reach left arm back on "BURN" and hold

Now that the choices are clear-- right and left side mirror eachother: open, stationary pas de bourree starting with inside leg, undercut soutenu turn towards center on count 4

Now that tomarrow is here-- continue turning direction and mirroring into a compass turn toward the center, Kid Blink move back toward eachother (to form a circle)

Watch how the mighty can fall
-- step away from circle, jazz hand parallel high, into a swedish fall away from circle

For once and for all-- stand up, soutenu right rainbow arms**
16 count break-- In 4 parts:
#1: two coffee grinders and stand upand walk to next position (1st 8 counts) Suppots #3, along with #4 for #3's hitch kick (2nd 8 counts)
#2: Jump over 2nd coffee grinder of #1 and run to front left (1st 8 counts)  turning to the right, do four half  turns with right leg extened at 90 degrees, pull right leg into cou-de-pied (turned out) for a double pirouette, pull right leg up to passe and calypso out of the turns.
#3: battement right leg to side parallel attitude into a rockstep, Pie Eater move* (1st 8 counts) position oneself between #2 and #4 be lifted in a hitch kick
All walk back to a 2 lined formation

This is for kids shining shoes in the street-- (left and right sides mirror eachother) 2nd position, plie, swipe inside arm horizontaly from outside to inside, followed by swiping outside arm inside to outside

With no shoes on their feet everyday-- (2 sides mirror) 2 steps back away from other side on "WITH NO", poke front leg out in 90 degree battement on "SHOES", fan arms (front, back) from front of you to behind

This is for guys sweatin' blood in the shops-- 2 sides pass through eachother in a diagonal manner: chasse, step saud de chat (audience leg leads) on "BLOOD"

While the bosses and cops look away
-- 2 steps toward audience (left, right) opening corrisponding arm with leg, stamp left foot behind right, pivot to the back with right leg in tendu back and right arm holding right shoulder

This is to even the score-- Prep, double parallel pirrouette on "SCORE" hands fist, arms folded in  horizontally

This ain't just newsies no more-- Stamp chasse forward (right leading) stop and clap on "NO", pivot left to face back, turn upper body back towards audience on count 8

This ain't just kids with some pie in the sky-- passing back through the way you came: chasse forward, step switch leap to knee

This is do it or die-- reach both open handed arms toward audience, retract arms and hit floor with fists on "DIE"

This is war!-- jump up, throw arms above head in jazz hands

Once and for all, we'll be there to defent one another--  Run to partner, Partner #1 faces audience and supports by plie in 2nd position and placing torso parallel with the floor.  Partner #2 runs to #1 and straddles legs as she rolls over #1's back from #1's right to left (roll over on "ANOTHER"

[
Count between song lines]: 4 half turn hops in parallel starting facing away from partner, #1's have arms up in V for first 2 hops, down at sides for second 2.  #2's have arms down on first 2 hops, up in V on second 2.

Once and for all, every kid is our friend, every friend our brother
-- Partners grab hands to barrel turn toward audience on "ONCE AND FOR ALL", My Pustule, Pustule Partner Step^ pulsing down on "FRIEND" and "OUR" unwinding on "BROTHER"

Five thousand fists in the sky-- Front line: jump away from partner, throw left hand in a fist up, open fist on "SKY"

Five thousand fists in the sky-- Back line: jump away from partner, throw right hand up, open on "SKY"

Five thousand reasons to try-- Left side: pull ams together at stomach, Bam! out on "REASONS", schmalts

Five thousand reasons to try-- ditto

We're going over the wall-- Passing through diagonally (As before): chasse, step straddly leap to inside kneww, face into a circle

Better to die than to crawl-- split roll from right split to left

Either we stand or we fall-- colapse onto knees, torso down, facing into circle

For once-- standing on knees, facing in, Charity's layout^^ from right to left

Once and for all!-- Stand up, facing out, lunge back on left leg, left arm reaching behind you and in to the circle, hold for 8 counts.  Renverse left arm.  Around circle: chasse turn (renverse arms), soutenu (rainbow arms), step left into circle, battement left (arms virtically above), land battement leg in front in a forced arch, throw torso back into a layout (arms at side) on final beat.
