I wake up every day,
Able to get out of bed.
I can jump down,
Without any pain.
I am able to shower,
I have clothes to wear.
I have class to go to,
And legs to walk there.
I can walk in safety,
Don’t have bullets to dodge.
Somedays the sky is clear,
Somedays it is not.
But either way is okay,
At least I can see it all.
When I get to class,
I am able to learn.
I can hear what they say,
And understand it all.
When class is done,
I have a place to go.
And when I arrive,
There’s people I know.
I can say hi to them,
And shake their hand.
I can walk with them,
And have a TV to watch.
Later in the night,
I have food to eat.
And later even still,
I have a place to sleep.
What more can I ask,
What more can I want.
I have safety, comfort, and food,
And can enjoy it all.
No matter what I say,
How much I bitch and whine.
I consider myself lucky,
To have a life this fine.
