Day by day it seems more likely,
This is all I’ll ever be.
When people turn on the TV screen,
They’ll look up and they won’t see me.
I won’t be in movies, or on the radio,
I won’t be heard across the land.
I won’t be the star of my own talk show,
People won’t recognize songs from my band.
These words won’t be screamed out at night,
During a road trip with all your boys.
I won’t be part of all your sorrows,
Won’t be there during all your joys.
I’ll be living my life like those before,
Ride the bus to work like another schmuck.
My name won’t be remembered through the ages,
I just don’t have that kind of luck.
Is it wrong to want to change the world,
To have an impact on people all around?
I know it’s optimistic and too naïve,
I’m setting myself up for the big letdown.
