Choices are all around us,
Countless as the stars in the sky.
So many paths we can take,
More and more as the days go by.
They seem so important to us,
They’re all life changing events.
We try to make the right decisions,
But choosing gives us so much stress.
And then time goes by us,
Forty years have gone by so fast.
We’re all old and retired,
Our old memories didn’t last.
Which bad bar we went to,
That class we chose to sleep through.
Who we hooked up with or not,
All those times we tried to look cool.
The choices that we made,
The decisions that we’re stuck with.
They all just melded together,
No one thing makes a difference.
Go back to when you’re sixty,
You know the fruits of your choices.
You probably wish you had a game plan,
Wish you spoke with one steady voice.
You can live life in the now,
And treat your future with much doubt.
Live life one day at a time,
But one day your days will run out.
