Arctic Fox
The short, rounded ears and short muzzle are heat-saving adaptions to the polar climate, as is the fur that lines the soles of it's feet. Arctic foxes are often observed following polar bears in order to scavenge from their kills.
The coat of the arctic foxes occurs in two colour forms, each with a different summer and winter colouration.
No.1, a white, or polar, form in the winter coat attacks and ptarmigan;(2)the same form in summer coat;(3)a steel-gray to brown, or blue, form beachcombs for carrion, again in winter; and(4)a Blue fox vixen "helper" in brown summer coat with her younger siblings. They use their fur colouration to camoflouge. This litter contains both colour forms are genetically determined by a single gene, the white form bieng reccesive.
