My trip to Europe was great. The four countries that I went to were England, France, Switzerland, and Germany. I departed from LAX to go to England. I packed the weekend before. We all had to choose our roomates for the trip. My roomates were Michael Ye and Albet Kim. We got on the plane for a 14-hour ride. We came in to England at midnight California time and 8:00am England time. When we arrived at our hotel, we met our guide for the trip. We took the subway system called the "tube" to go around the city. We got off the tube and went to see Buckingham Palace. We walked through the Queen's Gardens. Next, we walked through the largest park in London to see Big Ben. We came back to our hotel to sleep. The next day we went to St Paul's Cathedral. It is the second largest church in Europe. It was huge. The windows were all stained glass. After that, we went out to go shopping. Inside their mall was a five-story arcade with a free-fall ride inside. Next, we came back to the hotel to get a good night sleep because we had to wake up early the next morning. The next morning we departed from our hotel to go on a train to Paris. The tube was on strike that day so we had to take a bus to the train station. On the train ride you could see the countryside of England. When we arrived in Paris we first had a guided tour of the city. Then, we went to the Eiffel Tower. I climbed up to the top. You could see fo over 100 miles. Later we went back to the hotel to sleep. The next day we went to Notre Dame. We went inside the Cathedral. It was really dark inside. After that we went to the Hard Rock Cafe. Then we went to the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa. Next, we walked on the Champs-es-l'esee. We went to see the Arc de Triumph. We took their subway called the "metro." Finally, we went back to the hotel to sleep. The next morning we had to load up the bus for a nine and a half hour bus ride to Switzerland. When we got their, it was time to sleep. When we woke up, we went into town. We saw the oldest bridge in Europe and a sculpture of a lion carved in a rock to symbolize WWI. We next, went on a cable car to the top of the highest mountain in Europe, Mt. Pilatus, which is part of the Alps. We had a snowball fight for 2 hours and then we came down on the cable cars and went back to our hotel. The next morning we went on a five-hour ride to Germany. When we got there we stopped at an old castle that was in ruins. Inside the castle we saw the biggest wine cellar in the world. The castle was made of brick and dated back to the Middle Ages. Later, we walked around the lake that was next to our hotel. We went to the airport the next morning for our trip home. In Europe there were many things to see and do. England, France, Switzerland, and Germany were beautiful. I bought many souvenirs. It was great to be away from California. I had a lot of fun. I wish I could go to Europe again some day soon! |
