Stairwell -- Tower of Illusion -- Niflheim This stairwell is very wide, accomodating and made of hickory. The originality of the eerie feeling of seeing things similar to your own world has likely warn off by now, but this one has a few added touches that aren't in the stairwell's mirror on earth. This stairwell is taken from the Public High School where much of the team attends, and it is open and very empty. Graffiti covers the walls and the wood has been carved into by knives and other sharp insturments, just like back on earth, only a lot of the graffiti is different. There's formations in dark brownish-red smears (old dried blood by the look and smell). The entire stairwell smells dirty to those with normal noses. To those with sensitive noses this stairwell smells absolutely horrible. Gwen Namura says "Well, that was Will's hell. He got out of it pretty well." Terry shakes her hair out, "Will didna deserve tha' happenin't' him." "Gawd, this is disgustin'..." Sam mutters as he wals up the stairwell with his team, thinking back to what just transpired with Will and hoping that we all don't have to go through that. "So, what do ya think she's got planned next foah us?" "A' this point it could b' the boogieman tha' was under m' bed when I was four..no wait tha' was Tom.." Terry shrugs. Gwen Namura says "Does it matter? We're gonna slaughter 'em." Paige snorts, wrapping her arms around herself. "Yip-fuckin'-pee." She says dryly, as she looks over the hall. "This is where ya'll go to *school*? Sam, ya need to pick bettah places." Sam reaches the top of the stairs, looking back to his teammates before he steps into the room on the 5th floor. "Yep, takin' from our memories, Paigey. There all lahke this, though..." He trails off, holding the door open to let everyone enter. Sam's Office -- 5th Floor -- Tower of Illusion -- Niflheim As you enter the room you get the immediate impression of familarority. You've all at least been in this room once or twice. Some of you more then others. It's Sam's Office back at the Xtate. Or... at least for the most part it's Sam's office. Somethings about it are... well... different. The same large, black desk sits in the center. Behind it is the same large, cieling to floor window that looks out onto the beach. On the wood panneled walls are various modern paintings that add to the homey feeling of the office. It is a spacious room that has two comfty leather chairs that sit in front of his desk. There is a large bookshelf to the left that is filled with books and to the left is a glass table. The floor is made of shiny hard wood and there is a thick, plush rug in the center, a good place to warm the cold feet. All of that is the same. What's different is the fact that there's... other things. Added pictures. On the wall in the place of one of the modern paintings one would find back in his office at home is a picture of a happy couple at a wedding. An older version of Mr. Guthrie in fact, and the blue-haired water girl he's dating right now. No, this hasn't happened in the real world, but hey, here most things aren't real. Also other things in the room seem like they belong to someone much older then Sam's ninteen years. Certain books on the shelves. Some of the paintings on the wall. Over all this room is completely cozy, and warm, and over all inviting. Definatly a lot more friendly and nicer then any room before it. Sam steps into the room along with everyone else, the last person in actually. His eyes dart around the room, recognizing it immediately. "My office..." He mutters, getting more into the room and peering at the odd pictures on the wall. It may sound selfish, but he doesn't want to go through this, he much rather this be someone else's room. Oh well, gotta face the music, Sammy. He studies the pictures, his father, Jo, and the picture of the newly-weds. Hmmm.... Paige follows quietly behind you. "Heh. So, ya want ta be happily married, an' still doin' what you do now. Not a bad dream." She dosen't want to even THINK About the bitch getting into her head and pulling out any of hers. Some of them are just... confused. She peers at some of the photos. "Well, you and Jo seemed t' have aged gracefuly," she drawls, and then sighs. Gwen Namura hums, "I don't see the horror. Mebbe the rugs'll bite our ankles?" Or, maybe this isn't a horror? Hmm? Hmm? Ever consider maybe Lishka's out to torture you all with something different? Quite possibly. There's another couple of pictures on the desk. Of someone who looks like an extremely young version of Jo without the super pale skin or the blue-streaks. Can we say someone wants to have a family? The one thing that is truely missing, is pictures of the team. How odd. Sam continues peering around, focusing especially in on the pic of him and the aged Jo after their marraige. IS that waht he wants? I guess so, but still leading Generation-X? I doubt it, all the teams pictures have vanished. "So what the hell do we do from heah? Ah guess just wait n' see what she does..." Referring to Lishka, of course. His eyes lay upon the picture of the young girl, obviously his and Jo's daughter. "Woah..." Is all hes ays as he scoops up the pic, studying the girl. Awww. Oh *KOOOYUUUUTE!* Of course, Paige isn't one to talk - she wants the same damn thing, really. Little brown haired, blue eyes Starsmores. Shush, don't tell! She looks ovre Sam's smiles, and smirks a bit. "Good thing the kids took aftah Jo," she whispers in her sibling-teasing manner to her brother, and then drops into one of the chairs. "Strange. So, first she scares us silly, an' then she offers ya what ya want, or what? Or is she gunna corrupt our dreams and make us hate 'em?" Paige muses from the chair. Gwen Namura watches the doors. "I dunno. Maybe we're all dead and you're evil." Suddenly near the bookshelf, the air mists up, and Lishka appears holding Jono's hand. A moment later Lishka vanishes again, but Jono remains. She was just dropping someone off. That's all. Don't call her for taxi service. Sam just sits up on the desk now, laying the picture of his daughter down where it was. The Lishka appears with Jono and before he can get a word into the supremem bitch, she's gone. "Jono...." He says lowly, glancing around the room and then looking back to the Brit, "Ya'alraght?" "JON!" Well, even as Sam asks, Paige is scrambling out of her chair and over to her Brit, grabbing him in her arms. "Are ya'll raht darlin'? Ah was sah worried 'baht ya!" And then he's promptly held tightly to her, as she is, without a doubt, very glad to see him. (~~...y'eah, I'.. oof..~~) is all he gets out as Paige almost tackles him. His arms move around her, hugging her tight. Yeah, he's missed her too. After a moment of hugging, Jono tries to dislodge himself and get a look, (~~...I'm fine, I'm fine..~~) he repeats, his voice calming down from the violent edge it held. Terry drops into the chair behind the desk, she yawns, "This is something o' a welcome change.." She folds her legs next to her, "S' lets see... wha' is this temptation o' somethin?" Gwen Namura says "Well, that was unexpected. Hey, do you think you got anything interesting in the desk drawers, Sambo?" Gwen goes poking around for scrapbooks an' stuff." One of the first thing Gwen stumbles upon before anyone can stop her from being nosey is a photo album. Awwww. How cute. Pictures! But all of them are illusions. None real. Taken from Sam's subconsious mainly. Things he would like to see, and things he doesn't even know he wants to see. Everything about all the pictures are happy. Not a single sad one. Oooh, and there's a couple of Paige too. And other members of the team. But all members of the team are in casual dress, out of uniform. Nothing looks team related except for those who are in the pictures. Sam peers as Gwen stumbles upon the album, taking it from her and opening it to reveal all the pictures of his /life/. "Woah..." He mumbles as he becomes immersed in the pictures, studying each one for at least five minutes. "Geez, Ah ain't leadin' the team no moah...." He adjusts the album, allowing everyone else to see. For a moment, he forgets this is all fake, thinking as if this is really what is going to happen. Paige does eventually release Jono, and then does lean over to look at the pictures. "Damn, Ah gained weight," She drawls with a snort. "Ha' far in the 'future' ya think she dropped this little fantasy? Ten yeahs? Fifteen?" She says, as she looks over the pictures. PAige is a realist - she knows none of this is real, and it's doubtful any of it will come true. Jono looks over Paige's shoulder to get a look. This is the first fantasy he's seen, past the Emplate. He's pretty sure that this is all a fantasy, but he just wants out. "Maybe there isna a team or ne'er was a team..." Terry shifts to take a better look at the pictures, "I look s' happy, an' everythin' looks s' normal an' nice." Gwen Namura sings, in a really annoying voice, "We can win... We will win!" For those who never watches Robotech, be real glad. "So, like, we win. Game over. World survives... I don't see a problem here, folks." There's a sound out in the Library, through the door on the wall, someone giggling. The door doesn't seem... substantal though. As if it isn't more then something you can see. Not the doorway out. Not yet at least. The door knob twists and someone opens the door and hops inside. A younger version of Jo, or an older version of the girl in the picture. Probably around fifteen. Extremely cute, with blue "Guthrie" eyes in contrast to Jo's gray ones. Her hair is dark though, like her mother's without the blue streaks. The girl blinks once at the sight of the room, then her eyes widen, "Dad! You're back early." She seems surprised, but happy to see her "dad". "This is -wonderful!-" She skips over to hug Sam. Odd thing though... She doesn't seem to -see- anyone else in the room. But she's an illusion. "How was your trip?? Is Aunt Terry doin' alright with the team?" Oh. So there -is- a team? And "Aunt Terry" leads it? Oh, and this girl has definatly grown up in 'upper class' New York. She lacks the accent of anywhere else. Sam /BLINKS/ as his daughter comes skiiping in to greet him. His heart begins to race as he doesn't move a muscle, just glances to his teammates that appear to go unnoticed by the girl. He doesn't even know her /name/. "H-H'llo." He says lowly, a hint of confusion in his voice. He just stares at the little girl, looking her over and wondering how she's going to react to his unsettling lack of affection. "Aunt Terrah? The team?" His mind begins to pulse just as fast as his heart, too much information at one time. All he tries to remember is that this is all /fake/. D-daughter? Well, there's an inward wince. She falls back into one of the chairs, a vaguely wistful - but somewhat bitter - expression on her face. Kids. Huh. She wants 'em, but can't have 'em... and there's 'Dad' with his little girl. Remember that having kids is just a fantasy for you, Paige... Sam cuold actually have this as a reality for him. "Lovely," she murmurs to herself, watching this scene play out. Well, this is a first for Jono. He lifts his brow slightly, standing behind Paige's chair as his hand rests on her shoulder. He squeezes gently, watching the scene play out. Okay so it is horribly wrong for Terry to be amused by this. But she is. And maybe there is just a touch of smugness about her lips. She rakes her hands through her hair and tries not to grin. A thin black eyebrow quirks and the little girl gives a laugh. "You're jet-lagged, aren't ya? Well, it is a long flight from Ireland. I still can't believe you let Aunt Terry take the team all the way out there. Just because she inherited a Castle." She gives a soft giggle and moves to open a drawer of the desk, "Anywho, I just came to get my learner's permit. Mom said she'd take me out driving later. But since you're back a day early I'm gonna guess she'll likely bail on me." She gives a half-sigh, not sincere. On the permit is a name. Paige Joy Guthrie. Wait a sec. Sam named his daughter after his own sister? Talk about hickish. She shoves the permit into her pocket, "I still don't know why you insisted on hiding it in here. Not like I can drive without you or mom anyway." Wait a minute. Another odd thing about this "dream". Nothing here is updated. The computer is state of the art. For 1999. But this is like twenty years later, ain't it? Weird. "Paige II" doesn't move to leave yet though. Sam jets stares at his 'daughter' in utter confusion. "Uhmm...Ireland? yeah...okay." He looks at his teammates, wishing said daughter could see them and talk to them instead of him. "So....where's mama?" He catches the name on the prermit, Paige, eh? "Paige, Ah need ta make a few phone calls. Go on 'bout yoah buisness n' ah'll see ya latah..." Good, get her out of here so they can advance and hopefully get out of here. Paige's brow spocks up. "Ya named her Paige?" She snorts dryly. "Why do Ah have the sneakin' suspicision that if she's named aftah me, Ah'm dead?" She drawls, and then folds her arms over her chest. "Lovely." Terry shakes her head, "Na' remember y' looked nice an' chubby in some o' th' pictures. Yuir about.." She pauses, "If I've inherited th' keep.. Da mus' b' dead.." She shivers a touch. "Paige II" nods slightly and says, "I get the drift. I'm going; I'm going. Anyway, Don't tie up the phone too long dad. I told Nick to call me tonight." One phoneline? In this huge house? Ok. Can we say weird? Anywho. Sam's daughter turns and leaves out the door, still looking all happy. Strange place. Definatly. But extremely chipper and happy. One thing though. Paige couldn't have been dead before "Paige II" was born, because one of the pics in the album had Paige, Jo, Sam and a young five-year old version of "Paige II" in it. Once his daughter is gone, Sam just lets out a deep breath and runs his hands through his hair. "Mah gawd...." He murmurs, looking at the rest of his team for their reactions. "Well, that was new....Yoah leadin' the team, Terrah in Cassidy Keep. Heh...." He looks at his sister, "Ah've got no clue why Ah named 'er Paige." Well, just Bizarre. Bizarre, bizarre, bizarre. "Sam, you name yoah daughtah aftah me while Ah'm still alive an' Ah'll punch ya." She yawns and shrugs a little, curling up in her chair. "So. We now know ya retired, a fathah of one, an' happy. So, what's the deal heah?" She smirks over at Terry, and holds back a biting comment, and then back to Sam. "So? Any ideas?" Woo. Jono just stands there with a hand on Paige's shoulder, looking at some of the pictures, peering at the images of himself with Paige.. Terry folds her arms across her chest, "Late a' night Sam, deep in yuir heart.. is this wha' y' want?" She tilts her head, "Just t' be Sam th' Daddy an' Married man.." She meerly smirks back at Paige before glancing back at Sam, "She said we wouldna just be facin our fears.." Gwen Namura thumbs through the scrapbook a bit more, flips on the PC, and checks for a desktop calendar. "Well, Paige existed, and the pics are fairly recent. More recent than the daughter's birth... Lemme see what year this is." A while of silence outside the door while the "GenXers" talk, the door out -still- seems insubstantial. And any attempts to go through it have been like trying to open a door in a painting. But yet again, the door opens itself, and someone walks in. This time... and older version of Joliene. Late 30s in fact. But hey, like most women with at least partial Asian heritage, she still manages to look youngish. Her hair is still streaked blue, and there's no grays. She tilts her head and taps her foot slightly, "Alright, Mr. Guthrie. Next time you decide to come in a day early you better call." She doesn't seem to be mad though, just faking it. Again, this illusion person doesn't see the others. Just Sam. And she obviously sees -her- Sam. Not the 19 year old team leader. Also, the mannerisms are very Joliene. This isn't Lishka playing a part. This is memories mixed together with a few added touchs. ... Now, as for Gweny-kin's search for the date. She can't find it. Anywhere. No date on any documents. Not even on the calander on the wall. The -day- and months are there. But not the year. The pictures all seem to take place in modern day New York and other areas. Except the people in them age. "That's a damn good question, Terrah." Sam says idly, taking a deep breath, "Is this mah dreams, what ah want foah mahself?" He doesn't have the answers, all he knows is that it really doesn't seem that bad of a life. Does he want to not be leading the team, though? "Now, 'ow the heck do we move on? Ah reckon this ain't ovah, Ah've got a feelin' she's got moah surprises..." He glances down to Gwen as she goes about the computer, "Does it mattah what yeah it is? This is all an illusion, we just gotta keep movin' on..." *GULP* Sam sees his Jo wak in, tapping her foot. His reaction is just as confused as it was with Paige II, "J-Jo? H'llo..." He tries to keep his eyes focused on something, finding it hard to look an illusion in the face and act like all is well. Paige reaches up one hand to cover Jono's with her own, and then looks over. "Well, Jo aged nicely. Was Ah the only one to 'plump out as Ah got oldah?" She drawls, as she gives 'Jo' a sour look. Squeezing Paige's shoulder, Jono shrugs some, (~~..I j'st `ope I ch'nged, s'me!~~) "An' theres th' l'il woman right on cue," Terry leans back in the desk chair again, "Curiouser an' Curiouser." She glances to Paige, "Maybe yuir na' on th' team anymore..." Gwen Namura says "Okay. The time is "now." So it's our future. And... Sam... Tickle her! I dunno. I still don't see a problem here. Ask her where Paige is, mebbe?" Well, this room ain't over til the fat lady sings. Or at least not until someone wants to actually stay. Temptation is the key. Once it's begun to really be tempting to the target, the door forward is opened. Ain't that ironic? The older Joliene frowns briefly, sensing something is off immediately, "What's wrong? Did something happen at the Keep? You guys didn't get into a fight I hope." She looks worried, but not so much that it's really started to effect her yet. Sam just gives in and decides to play along, hoping that will satisfy Lishka so that they can move on. "Yeah, Ah had a bad tahme ovah there. Terrah's jus' doin' a gawd awful job with the team n' she made me feel lahke ah wasn't welcome. Not ta mention, mah sistah Paige jus' keeps gettin biggah...." He trails off, giving a playful grin to both Paige and Terry. Hey, the team could use /some/ humour during this whole mess. "So, Jo. Can ya leave me alone? Ah've got a few calls ta make." Poor Sammy has no idea that to pass this is to give into the temptation. Call in the strippers? And for that, Paige promptly flips him off. "Ya know, Sammy, maybe ya only got one daughtah cause someone rendered ya sterile foah one too many smart ass remarks." She drawls. Gah. How mean can you be, Sammy? A light mental chuckle, Jono squeezes Paige's hand again. (~~...calm d'wn, luv.~~) he says in her mind. Terry sticks her tounge out at Sam, "Oh why na' tell her abou' th' three way y' had on' th' plane w' a stewerdess an' th' porn star.. o' th' thirty illegitimate children y've deposited a' th' keep.." She flicks her hair back over her shoulder. Gwen Namura says "Well... I'm out of ideas. But it's nice and quiet for a change... Hey, make out with her, Sam!" Joliene just looks confused as hell, and who can blame her. Not only is Sam saying strange stuff, but he's smiling in the general direction of... no one. "Huh?? What does your sister Paige have to do with your trip to the Keep? She's over in Salem Center. And she's not that big. And you -know- she's only that big because she wants to be. She could husk into a super model if she wanted to." She shakes her head, still looking totally confused, "And as for Terry, I don't blame her if she makes you feel like you weren't welcome. You're the one who insulted her leadership after the Hellfire Club attacked the Keep last year. You two haven't been on good terms ever since." But she doesn't seem like she's gonna be leaving any time soon. Not gonna get rid of her that easily. "Come on, Sammy. What's wrong? You don't have to make any phonecalls and we both know it. Or you would have been on the phone when I walked in." She moves across the room and asks, "You didn't hit your head or something? Blasting through the ceiling of the Keep by accident again?" The way she says 'Again?' hehe. Sam just looks at Paige, not caring if 'Jo' finds it odd that he's talking to the air. "Aww, c'mon, girl! Ahm just playin' round, Ah know girls body looks are touchy, Ahm sorrah." A short snicker follows as he gives a wink to Terry, turning back to his wife. "Alraght, Lishka. Can we move on? This is gettin' borin'..." he seems to have no problem saying this in front of 'Jo', why would he? She's not real. He keeps his eyes on Jo, deciding to play along once more. "Jo, ahm fahne. Please quit worryin' 'bout me n' go on. Ah've got some stuff ta do, really..." "Ah'm wheah?" Paige sits up, spocking up a brow. "Huh. Well, that's interestin'. An' when did 'fat as all hell' become mah look?" She snorts and folds her arms over her chest. And then she blinks. "Sam, you're nuts. The idea is to 'play the game'. An' when you 'beat the game' by 'playin' bah the rules', then we get Everett back an' we go home. You can't just.. blow it." Interesting. Salem Center. Jono wonders if he's there, too, or what, in this little future. These are the thoughts of a bored mind, though, waiting for this game to end. "Maybe y' are an' X-man.." Terry stretches with a grin, "Tha' t'would be interesting." Gwen Namura wanders over behind the Jo and does the "bunny ears behind the head" thing. Joliene frowns, glancing towards where Sam was talking, and not seeing anyone she looks even more worried. Well wouldn't you? Your husband comes in a day early, doesn't call, starts talking to thin air and is acting extremely weird. Plus, he just called her 'Lishka'? What is that? Swedish? Is he having an affair with some Swedish flight attendant? She sits down on the chair. "Alright. Something is wrong, and we're gonna sit here and talk about it. You promised me you wouldn't keep any secrets from me after we were married. Remember? Now spill, Kentucky. Before I call your mother and tell her that you're being a bad boy." Sam sighs, rolling his eyes and continuing to play along. "I'm fine. Lishka is just this girl I knew in high-school that I met on the plane. She was on my mind. Simple mistake, honest. So what do ya wanna do? Is suppah ready? Ahm satrved..." He now ignores his surrounding teammates, focusing on Jo and hoping making her /believe/. Paige falls silent, curling up in the chair again and resting her head aginst the chairback. Jono reaches to brush his fingertips over Paige's forehead, waiting. Terry arches an eyebrow, "Oh my na'" Gwen Namura sighs, and crawls under the desk. She sulks there. Simple mistake? Lishka? Who in their right mind in Kentucky would name their daughter Lishka? Joliene isn't buying it. But she' didn't want to fight.. She hates fighting. She stands, walking over until she's in front of Sam. "I missed you. I would have gone. I'm starting to think I should have..." She shrugs and looks off towards the window, then sighs. There's something she really needs to say, but with her husband acting all weird it's making it hard to say. And it might not even be her husband. Weirder things have happened to those members of GenX over the years. So she leans forward, getting within a few inches of his face and asks with a smile, "Remember Christmas Eve, back when we first started dating? When we were still 'young'." In other words, something that -has- happened, so Sam would know about it. Hopefilly. Sam nods to Jo, putting his hands on her shoulders, "Yep, Ah remembah." He's all out ignoring his team at this point, immersing himself in this illusion. Slowly, but surely, Sam begins to forget that this is an illusion, acting as if this is all real. Is he beginning to be tempted? Damn, it looks like. Paige sighs softly, and watches Sam slip away. She look up to Jono, as if to say, 'Someone shoot me now?' and then back at Sam. Then she studies the rug. Jono seems to frown, his brow furrowing as he looks over at Sam for a second, then pats Paige's shoulder. Terry rakes her hand through her hair, "D' y' think Jo has had a little work done?" Gwen Namura sulks under the desk more. Joliene grins and leans forward, pressing her nose lightly against Sam's. Can we say -cute?- Maybe. "Good. I was afraid you were gonna pull one of those typical male 'I don't remember' things." And all I can say to Terry's comment is 'HEY! All natural baby!' Ok, not really, she's just an illusion after all. She leans in and plants a light kiss on Sam's lips, then says, "I was waiting for you to get back, because I have some news. I only found out the day after you left, and I didn't want to tell you over the phone..." She reaches up and runs fingers through the side of Sam's hair lightly. Illusions that can touch? Well if they can make someone feel pain, they can sure do the opposite was well. "But Sammy, we're gonna have ourselves another baby." Uh-oh. Can we say more temptation? Another thing the others might notice. The door. It looks substantial now. It looks real. It looks like it could open. Sam smiles /brightly/ "Really!? Yoah pregnant!? That's fantastic, girl! What is it, do ya know?" Good job Lishka, you tempted him. For a moment there, Sam was genuinely happy, another bundle of joy was ont he way. He gives a smile once more to Jo, then registering his teammates and reality seems to come flooding back. He gives them a sheepish look, realising he was just tricked big time courtesy of the bitch upstairs. "That's great, Jo...real great..." Paige rolls her eyes. "'scuse me while mah bitterness factah skyrockets." She growls, and then... she sees the door. "Sam! We got our ticket! c'mon!" And then she's rising, looking at him as if to say, 'Well?' Jono is close behind. He doesn't want to drown in sappiness. He doesn't throw something at Sam, though. THats good. "I don' know.. maybe a' li'l collagen in th' lips.. they look a li'l b' plump fer her.." Then Terry pauses, "Ahhh must be th' pregnancy then.." She stops, "Th' Door.." She starts to stand from her chair and heads towards that door a hand already outstretched for the knob. Joliene grins. She knew he would like the news. At least he isn't talking to walls anymore. She straightens up and shakes her head, "Not yet, Sam. But if you name this one after one of your siblings I think I'll have to protest. I mean I love all your brothers and sisters, but it makes those family reunions confusing when you call out for Paige and two people turn." The door... actually opens itself. Leading into another room. Somewhere else. Another area where they can go forward and face more of these things. No waiting til the scene is over to go forward. No fighting to get to the door. Paige is right. They got their ticket. And it's one way too. Gwen Namura is still sulking under the desk. Someone's gonna have to pull her out. Paige sighs, and reaches out to touch Sam, bringing him from his revirie. "C'mon, Sammy. We gotta go nah. Ya can get this in the real world, one day, Ah'm sure." and then she heads toward and through the door. And grabbing Sam by the lapels is Jono. He's moving for the door, and he'll drag Sam with him if need be. "Gwen.. C'mon we're ou' o' here.." Terry stands by the door waiting for the others. Gwen Namura peeks out, then shrugs, and dashes for the door. She's still carrying the photo album, though. Joliene blinks and something suddenly drags Sam away, "Sam? Where are you going?" She sounds genuinely upset. Her husband walking out on her after telling her that's great? Hrmpt. But soon she vanishes. Maybe this will come to pass someday. Most likely not. But hey, perhaps even just seeing it is enough.
