08/02/2000 Wyntere's Room, White Tower, Tar Valon Despite the tinkerish nature of this Sedai, her room is rather tame. One might notice that everything has a place and the overall view of the room is one of neatness. The walls are a soft greyish blue color. Against the far wall in front of the door, a four-post bed stands covered with a beautiful burgandy, forest and midnight quilt. Two chests rest at the foot of the bed with a throw blanket upon each. There are two bay windows that over look the courtyard. The grand stone fireplace stands between the windows. In front of the firplace, there is a low walnut coffee table surrounded by an antique couch and two arm chairs. Her desk in along the wall by the door. To set this Sedai apart from others. She has a glass display case by her desk. Inside are all kinds of trinkets and figures. Some are figurines made of marble, jade, quartz, or alabaster. Others are made from wood or leather. Each one telling it's own story and a different part of her life.In the evenings and towards night, this room becomes a magnificent sight to behold. Tiny twinkling stars seem to apppear from the stone walls, moving ever slowly as the night sky. A telescope is pointed out one window to give proof of only one of Wyntere's hobbies. After having a huge outburst down in the Common Lounge, Neelkan decided to go ahead and visit Espi, then he would be able to go and get some sleep. Because he wouldn't be able to get sleep until afterwards. He was able to convince someone he had permission to go to Wyntere's Quarters, and since he just came back from being captured, people for some reason are actually being halfway nice to him, despite his usual prickly nature. He got directions and a Novice escourt up to the room, then was able to shoo off the girl before working up the courage to knock on it. He's been here a couple hours now. Enough time to bathe, change clothes, eat, report to Kaomi and have some talks with a couple people. The only thing left of his original attire is his red sash, which is dirty, and in need of a wash, and stained in a few places (on one end with blood). His knuckles are also scraped up and bruised pretty decently. Like he tried to bash a wall. Which he did. Espi is curled up into a neat little package on Wynt's couch. She's been sleeping off and on since she woke up this morning, but she's still exhausted. The weave placed on her before she fell asleep again this morning has definately been doing a good job though. Her face is no longer as pale as it was and she does rest peacefully. Well, nearly. Her stomach makes a fitful grumbling noise which wakes her up. She hasn't noticed you as yet, still being groggy from waking as she moves slowly to sit up. She chuckles softly, rubbing her stomach a bit. "Well....I see you're feeling better. I'll put food in you soon, but right now..I still don't feel strong enough to be doing any walking." She grins, closing her eyes again as she feels her legs. Yup..still there and still shaky as far as she can tell. Pushing the door open, Neelkan peeks his head inside, looking around the room until he sees you in there with your eyes closed and looking about as tired as he feels. Oh, he looks tired. In fact he looks downright exhausted. But that doesn't mean anything. He steps inside fully, as silently as he possibly can while you're out of notice and closes the door, again silently. Then he leans against it and smirks before announcing his presense loudly, "'ey 'ere. I 'ear I owe ya a 'anks f'r helpin' t' get m' out, 'eh?" For now he lets the grumpy emotions depart, just glad to see his friend, even if she looks all tired. Espiria smiles, thinking that she should ask Wynt if it's okay if she tries to go downstairs.. but then Wynt did say she was to stay put. Her eyes go wide and she beams a happy smile over to you, tossing off the blankets and jumping to her feet to run over to you. Well, at least that's what she was hoping to do. As soon as she stands, her legs give out and she starts to fall face first to the ground. Whoops..forgot about those legs. Ack. Well, that isn't good. Neelkan blinks as you fall flat on your face and he pushes off of the closed door and starts over quickly to offer an arm to help you up. "'ey, dontcha go 'n hurt yerself, Espi." He waits until he can get you at least sitting up and maybe even back on the bed if you allow him, adding, "Wouldn't b' able t' f'rgive m'self if ya got hurt 'cause of m'. ... So yer a'right, right?" Don't be hurt. He's already beating himself up enough as it is... Wyn did say you were exhausted though from the animal distraction. So maybe that's all this is. Espiria winces just a bit, coughing as she tries to sit up. She holds her head a bit, grinning. "I..I guess I shouldn't have tried that just yet." She winces alittle as she moves to try to get back onto the couch, but your arm holding her helps a great deal and soon she is sitting back where she should be. Her hands reach for the spilled blankets, tugging them back about her before she heaves a sigh. "They said I need alot of rest. Pushed myself just a bit too hard it seems." She chuckles weakly, lifting a shoulder. "I couldn't do otherwise though. Not with friends lives on the line. I really thought you were going to squash that mouse..." She glances over to you and giggles gently as she leans back to rest again. Laughing, Neelkan sits on the edge of the bed now that you're in it again and just pats your hand lightly. "Sorry. I wasn't really gonna squish it, was just gonna scare it 'way a lil'. 'at's all." He shrugs and looks off around the room, finding something to hold his attention. Mainely the telescope near the window. Still looking off at it he takes his bruised and scabbed hand back and runs it over his hair, commenting a little, "'n... 'anks. F'r helpin'. I... guess I owe ya." Espiria chuckles weakly, shaking her head. "Nah...Neel. I did it because I knew how to. I came up with the idea when I heard about both you and Denn...in that horrible place. I just couldn't sit back and let you go thru...what you might have had to go thru." She pats the hand back, "I couldn't let my friends suffer that...and it turns out the memory was right this time." She giggles, shaking her head a bit. "I..didn't think I could actually do it, but Keay Sedai helped." "The... memory?" Neelkan asks, glancing over towards you. He seems to have slipped back into the grumpy mood for a brief moment, but then his smile is forced back on. He'll be happy, because that's probably what you want him to be right now. "Well, I'm glad ya were able t' help. I think Sunan was real upset 'cause he couldn't." He shrugs, then the smile moves into that mischivous smirk he sometimes gets, "I still owe ya though. I guess I'll just have t' pay ya back some how." And he is kinda upset that you and Verbena ended up saving him. He's the /guy/. He's supposed to do the saving, Light blind it. Espiria chuckles and drops any more mentioning of 'memories' since she did catch that flicker of grumpiness. Nope..can't have that. She nods gently, lifting a shoulder. "We all do what we have to in service of the Light, Neel. It..was something I could do at that time..that noone else could have and I was more than happy to." She heaves a sigh, shaking her head as it drops back against the couch. "I'm sure you'll get your chance soon. I mean..you're training is going, right? You'll be a Warder soon and then you'll get to do all the hero things that you feel you should be doing." She giggles, glancing over to the pitcher on the table. "Neel? Could you get me a glass of that water?" Pushing himself up, Neelkan looks around to find where water is, then heads over towards the low coffee table where there's a pitcher and a glass. He pours the glass, then heads over back to the bed and holds it out to you, "Well, guess I can start with a glass of water at least." He says with a small wink, then adds, "'n I think I did some 'hero things' the last couple of days." Least until he failed to make sure Verbena got out safely as well. Even though everyone so far has told him not to beat himself up over it. He sits himself back down on the edge of the bed once you have the glass and adds, "'n ya did real good with the animals. The mice 'ere cute." Him saying the mice were /cute/ might just sound odd to you... Espiria giggles and nods, "You should have seen Sunan as he tried to help me catch the mice." She shakes her head, taking a long drink of the water before she comments. "Good and cold..." She grins and goes back to her telling. "He was chasing this one mouse amd oh...did he get in trouble." She giggles, blushing brightly over something. "He chased one of the mice right under a Novice's skirt!" Neelkan snickers, raising his hand again to finger at his hair as it half-obscures one of his eyes. "So he had a hand in gettin' us out too, 'eh? Though honestly I didn't need the lock pick. A'ready had somethin' 'at would've worked." But... Maybe he shouldn't have said that? Oh yes he should've. Shows he was fully capable of handling the situation! He'd even made himself a weapon. "'n I hope Sunan didn't scare the poor girl too much. He needs t' learn some manners sometimes." Though at least he means well. Espiria giggles and nods, taking another long drink from the glass. "Yes..He does. He got caught when he did that too. The Novice ran right over to Wyntere Sedai and told her about it." She grimaces slightly, "I'm not sure what she had him do..if anything, but it was interesting to watch her try to teach him why it was wrong to do it." She shakes her head, "He really needs to learn a bit about being around others. He's even become a pest to Thain..the Ogier that's in town." "I've never seen an Ogier 'fore." Neelkan admits with a shrug. Not a big deal. They can't be too weird looking... right? Aw well, he'll see one one of these days probably. "Well, I dunno what's up with Sunan, but... well... I'm tryin' m' best t' tolerate 'im. I mean he's got his... good qualities too. He just needs t'... ya know." Not do... all those things he does all the time. "I don't 'ink he got punished too bad. He looked a'right 'en I saw 'em. F'r a minute 'ere I thought he was gonna hug m'!" As he says that he kinda gives a small 'ick' face. Espiria beams a happy smile, "Well, I'm sure you'll meet him soon enough. He's been by a few times already." She finishes off the water, leaning her head back to rest it for a moment before she sighs, "Me missed you, Neel. If you could have seen what Raeth had to do just to get him to quiet down... It was something. He started yelling at the top of his lungs if the Tower was going to do anything about it. Demanding to know even. Gaidin Raeth had to tell him several times to calm down..and then ended up having to order him into the Practice Yard because Sunan just wouldn't. He was horribly upset about what happened..." She chuckles, smirking a bit. "You're his good friend, Neel... It probably would have been impulsive relief to see you are alright if he had. Nothing more. You know as well as I do that Sunan is far to..ummm..logical a thinker to even think of expressing that kind of thing." Taking the glass as you finish it, Neelkan moves to put it back on the table then pauses at all the talk about Sunan. He did all that? Then he hears the last bit and he starts to shake his head quickly, "I wasn't suggestin' anything like 'at! I know he's just m' friend!" Grump. He puts the cup down and heads back, his grin fully in place, though he only lost it for a second as he responded to what he /hopes/ was a joke. "I.. I'm sorry he got so upset 'en. I... I 'ear ya were pretty upset yerself?" Espiria giggles softly, sighing as she pulls the blankets closer and shivers for a moment. "Yeah..I was. To think of you...in that.../place/...." She widens her eyes turning her gaze toward the door quickly and beams a happy smile, "TreeBrother! It's good to see you.. But...what brings you here?" She's obviously alittle shocked that Thain would come all the way from the nice surroundings of the Grove and upstairs on top of it...even even more shocking, into Wynt's room? Could it be he was looking for Wynt? "Umm..If you are looking for Wyntere Sedai, she had to step out for awhile. I'm sure she'll be back soon." Neelkan is the young man the wildy fluffy red hair that oddly has a bunch of white streaks thoroughout it. A boy who doesn't look more then seventeen with white streaks in his hair? Mmmhmm. He is standing near the bed, one hand reached up and fingering at that hair of his that falls in front of his face and partly obscures his eyes. He glances over at the shout from Espi, looking towards the door and... what in the...? He just blinks and blinks and blinks somemore. Obviously someone who has never seen a Ogier before. He doesn't look afraid though, more... surprised then anything. Thain blinks and looks a bit bashful. He replies in his casual tone," I was out walking around yesterday and happened to hear a few things." He chuckles and twitches his ears for demostration before continueing," I heard that you were injured in some way and was brought here. I came to see if you were alright." He chuckles and looks down at his shuffling feet. Espiria smiles brightly, nodding. He came to see me? She blushes brightly at that, never having thought and Ogier would leave the loveliness of the trees to enter a stone place just to see someone. She giggles, lifting a shoulder before she motions over to Neel, "Thain...this is Neelkan. He's one of the people that I helped...and a good friend of mine." Her hand reaches out to pat his arm before glancing over to Thain. "The reason I am like this..is a long tale indeed. I'd love to tell it sometime, when you have the time to listen." She grins, knowing Ogier's findness for stories and she's already writing it out in her head so he can have the most enjoyment from it. This /huge/ creature is acting all shy and bashful and shuffling his feet!? Neelkan just can't really understand this right away. Give him a few moments. His hands come down to finger at the sash at his waist which is kind of dirty and stained when compared to the rest of his attire. Then Espi makes the introduction and he snaps himself out of staring shock. "Uh... Nice t' meet ya.." He feels so small with the Ogier around... He doesn't really sound nervous, but he's going to need a few moments to get over this 'I just saw my first Ogier' shock. Thain looks up at Neel and realizes that it might be important to act offical again. After a quick cough he states in his booming voice," I am Thain, son of Damaun, son of Serran of the Setedding Shangtai." He grins and bows before going on in a quieter but still formal manner," And I am most pleased to meet you as well." He smiles at Espi and nods," I would love to hear that tale." He says in his gentle voice, which seems to be reserved for her. Espiria smiles and blushes, noting the tone change. She shifts a bit on the couch, wincing alittle as she sighs. "Oh..I wish I would hurry up and mend. I hate all this sitting. I just don't think my legs will carry me far." She giggles, glancing over to Neel and the face first plunge that she took when she tried the last time. Her eyes glance back over to Thain, beaming a happy smile. "Umm..Well if you have time, I could start it now. I'm sure Neel would like to hear it also?" She glances over to Neel, patting his arm gently with questions in her eyes. At the full introduction from the Ogier, Neelkan kind of glances towards Espi, then... shrugs a little, and looks back at Thain, "Well, m' real name is Shun'u il'Sharil, but e'eryone calls m' Neelkan, 'r Neel, so ya can just call m' Neel 'n I'll call ya Thain." He grins at Espi, even though this is probably the first time she's got to hear his real name, then nods and says, "A'right, I wouldn't mind hearin'." And in preperation to hear the story of exactly how he was 'rescued' he moves to sit on the end of the bed again. Thain smiles and nods at Neel." Very well then, Neel." He tries in a more casul tone. He looks around a moment to find something to sit on and shys away from the antique couch and small chairs. He sighs and hunkers down on the floor, removing his knife and a piece of wood in preperation for storytime. Espiria drops her head back against the couch again, taking a deep breath before she looks back up to the both of you. "Once..opon a time that is not that long ago and not that far away, a battle waged. It was filled with braves souls on the side of Light and not so brave souls on the side of Dark. The dark souls sought to destroy the Light because they feared it. They wanted Dark to win..because of their hunger for power...for glory or for any other of the vanities that men come up with. The battle waged on and on, until one day when new faces emerged on the side of Light." She takes a breath, reaching again for her glass as she smiles at Neel. "These new faces were young. Some old though and wise. They decided that enough was enough and struck out for the land of Coremanda who had reciently become filled with all manner of Dark minions. The Light took the fight to them...and as the war waged it was sure that it would never end. Or if it would, it would end in the defeat of one side or the other." Grinning at the beginning of the story, Neelkan is tempted to bring his feet up onto the bed, but he stops himself because he has his boots on and that would he a little dirty and he doesn't want to get thrown out for getting dirt on Wyn's bed or something! He's lucky he got let up here /alone/ with a student anyway. Of course he's not alone anymore... but that's beside the point. Thain begins to carve the wood with his knife while listening intently to Espi's story. His ears twitch as he listens to what she has to say. Glancing at the carving for just a moment, Espi picks up where she left off. "Now this group faced overwhelming odds and it was certain that the battle would be lost, but the forces of Light raged against the Dark. Pushing as hard as they could. They were not said to have lost, but they could not be said to have won either. It was a draw. Several people were taken captive though on that sad day. 3 valiant souls whose lives were on the edge of oblivion and whose lives were now taken by The Fort." She takes a sip of the drink, "They were locked into damk and cold cells. Treated with barely enough curtsey to give them bread and water in the hopes they would break. But these souls of the Light would not break. Back at the Tower, Mother pondered all sorts of ideas as to how to rescue the valiant band. Lives were in the balance and one mis-step and those lives would be lost." A rather humble sounding rapping comes from the door. Neelkan is sitting on the end of Wyntere's bed, his legs dangling off the edge and listening to Espi's story as his eyes stay focused on the telescope near the window. Since returning to the Tower he's gotten a change of clothes (everything but his boots which were just quickly cleaned, and his sash which is in dire need of cleaning, but he didn't want to hand it over just yet) a quick bath and a few conversations. And he's smirking lightly at the story, though he looks completely exhausted, which he no doubt is. But he's hiding it a little bit. He even has to snicker a little at Espi's version. It was a little different having actually been there, but he won't correct her. It's rude. He blinks and glances towards the door at the rapping and instantly jumps up, knowing that Espi can not (she faceplanted on the floor when she tried to with him) and moves over to the door and opens it. Waaaah! Speak Valiant Souls and another one appears. Espiria smiles and glances over to the door as Neel rises. It's never good to interupt a telling, but then..she is in someone else's room so she has to be polite. Her head tips to one side, pulling up the blankets a bit as she gets another shiver. "Denn? Hello... It's good to see you." She glances over to Thain, smiling. "Thain...this is Denn'ryiel. She one of the ones in the story I'm telling." She looks still rather weak if Denn were to look at her directly. Denn'ryiel has had enough time for a quick bath, a checkup in the infirmary, and a brief meeting with the Amyrlin. Other than no longer looking filthy, she looks pretty ragged, but her spirits are up a bit. "Forgive my intrusion, Neelkan, friend Ogier," She curtseys to Thain upon saying that. "I was just told I could find Espiria here. I wanted to thank you for everything you did, in helping Neelkan, Verbena Sedai and I out of the prison." After a long day in the office, Guess who walks in?? Low and behold, it's the person who actually lives here! Opening the door, Wyntere walks in and is surprised to see all these people here. There is a soft cough from the door and smokey blue eyes are looking right at Espiria. Though, of course, for those who know her best. She looks all but upset. Standing at the door, having just let in Denn, Neelkan smiles tiredly at her, then glances away towards the wall for a long moment. Oh, there must be something on the wall of interest. He looks kind of sad because Denn mentioned Verbena though. No matter what Kaomi and Sunan have told him so far he's still going to beat himself up over that for a while. It's just who he is. Then he puts his smile back on and nods towards Denn, "Espi was just tellin' Thain 'n m' how she helped us 'n stuff. I'm sure 'ey won't mind if ya sit in and listen." He looks surprised at the entrance of Wyn and then smirks. It's her own room, she has every right to come in if she feels like it. He doesn't bow though. How rude. He just nods his head a little and goes to lean tiredly against the wall. The poor young man looks exhausted. Thain stops his carving, as the story has taken a short pause. He looks behind him to spot Wynt and the other person. He nods politely to both before turning back to his carving and listening. Espiria opens her mouth and snaps it shut again as Wynt walks in. Her eyes widen a bit, smiling gently. "Umm..They just dropped by to see how I was..." She bites her lower lip, glancing at her friend the Ogier before she chuckles. "Umm..I think the rest of the story may have to wait. I..I think Wyntere Sedai would like her room back now." She smiles, and shifts a bit so that her feet are touching the ground. Well, here goes. Inwardly she crosses her fingers that she can stand and walk out if she needs to. She glances to everyone including Wynt and chuckles as she wiggles her toes. Yup..at least she has feeling again. She glances over to Wynt to see which she would rather it be.. Story..or she leave to give Wynt her room back. Denn'ryiel blushes slightly as Wyntere enters, but she gives her a small bow of the head and a smile. Her mood seems to have improved, if not to the level it was previously. "My apologies, I just dropped by for a moment." Not wishing to disturb the Sedai further, she heads for the door. Wyntere glances around the room nodding to everyone. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...Hmm... "You must be very popular, Espiria." The Gray knows she can kick everyone out, but she just shrugs. "Go ahead and tell the story. I'll put tea on if anyone wants any." With that she moves towards her desk to set done some paperwork from the office. Following that she goes to put the teapot on. "I think I have enough teacups, if not, I'll send for some. Please, everyone make themselves comfortable." Seeing Denn start heading out, Wyntere calls, "Please stay Denn, if you have the chance. All are welcome. Just a surprise to come back to my sick accepted and find the room full." She glances over to espiria when mentioning sick. Yep, she's going back to her own room tonight. Apparently, it's Check-On-Espi night in the Tower. There's another knock on the door and Kirra pokes her head in. She glances around the room, taking in all the inhabitants, then lights upon Espi. "My, you've very popular tonight." Leaning against the wall, Neelkan lifts a hand to tug on his long bangs, and ends up using the gesture to hide a yawn. He can feel the fact that he's about to drop right here on the floor and he doesn't want to do that. It's embarassing. He used to do it often enough when he was amoung his bandits. He moves over to the bed and reaches down to give Espi a small pat on the shoulder, "I'll 'ear yer story later I'm sure. Some gleeman'll prolly b' tellin' it in a few months." He winks his eye at her them nods towards the Ogier, and Wyn, and... the newly arrived Kirra Sedai before moving over to grab Denn's arm gently, "Ya go 'head 'n stay. I should go.. d' some things." Like sleep. Unless Wyn wants a trainee guest for the night, he better go now. Espiria turns to smile at Wynt, face brightening that she's able to continue her tale and happy that all the people..or nearly all of them..that she has come to care deeply for are around her. Yes..that may be in another person's room, but at least they are here. If three others were to show up though..the other three that she cares about..then Thain might have to get this side of the building restructured from the weight in one room. She blinks, glancing over to Kirra with a bright smile. "All my friends were wanting to know how I was doing." She blushes brightly, feeling more loved at this moment than any single person has the right to and it..just floors her. She sighs softly, "I was about to work on telling the story." If Wynt doesn't mind, she will include Kirra in the telling. She tips her eyes over to Neel, smiling. "I understand, Neel. I'll see you soon..when we both are rested again." She chuckles softly, wishing him a good sleep. Denn'ryiel smiles and looks around for something to sit upon that the Sedai wouldn't get mad at her for. She eventually settles for sitting crosslegged on the floor. "Take care, Neelkan," she says, with a little more smiling than she should use. Thain looks up and grins at Neel." Have a good rest Neel. See you soon, I believe."
