05/11/2000 Infirmary, White Tower, Tar Valon Square in shape, this room is most often abuzz with activity. It contains the normal implements of a teaching infirmary, in fact, it is extremely well stocked with all manner of things: cots, jars, bottles, syringes, bandages, cloths, cabinets, shelves, books and tables along with plenty of hot water. The air has that sterile smell associated with the constant use of redwort, tinged with the unpleasant prickle of witchhazel. While most of the Healing is done via the One Power at the Tower, there are many minor medical situations that are dealt with the old fashioned way. There are several areas curtained off, for patients' privacy as well as for instructional usages. This is a teaching infirmary for the Yellow Ajah, after all. Beds in cheerful colors are lined up in neat rows, providing a comfortable place to sleep after a Healer's tender ministrations. Windows are kept wide open to all for light and fresh air. Redd looks up at Wyntere, holding onto the bed for dear life to prevent falling to the ground. Espiria remains quiet, sleeping evidently in a deep fashion now that she has relaxed enough to do so. The blankets are pulled up around her and she seems to resting peacefully for the time being. Very little shows of her ordeal reciently. Just a few hints of bruises and a few welts that are leftovers from the gashes she sustained. otherwise, she seems perfectly fine now. Ow. Pain. Tired. This is where Neelkan finally stumbled in. He's all dust covered and looking like he got stepped on a few times, but he isn't bleeding and he doesn't seem overly injured. He gives his head about the dozenth shake since he started back to get some dust out of it. Only a little actually gets out though. He sees Redd first, and starts over towards him, no matter how much he'd like to just lay down and... well... not sleep. But lay down. Wyntere grins softly at Espi. "Sleep well, my student." Yes.. you are /her/ student. Wyntere then moves over to Redd's bad and sits down upon it. She motions to the grip the boy has on the bed. "Redd, what's going on?" Redd frowns. "I am fine, Aes Sedai." He glances to Neelkan. His words aren't a lie, it is what he believes. Reaching up to brush at his dusty hair absently, Neelkan looks over Redd, then his eyes move to Wyntere. He's... oddly silent for some reason, and he seems... bothered by something. His eyes them move towards the bed that Wyn moved away from. Espi! She was there too!? Arg. Neel's really going to track down everyone in that mob and give them a black eye now. Glare. Wyntere looks up at Neelkan and reaches over to place a hand on his shoulder. "Calm, Neel. What happened? Redd were you with them?" She looks the younger one in the eyes. "You are holding onto the bed too tight to be fine. Now speak." Redd looks confused about the 'were you with them' part, but he frowns and shakes his head. Neel would know why he is clinging to the bed so tight, but he doesn't say anything, he waits for Neelkan to say what he wants to. "I'm perfectly calm." Neelkan growls through his teeth, still looking over at Espiria, then finally he looks back towards Wyn and Redd and processes the question on what happened, "Not too sure 'xactly." he explains truthfully, "The parade f'r the Army of the Light, 'r whatever, was goin' on, 'n 'en all'a sudden ... someone tried t' kill this Christabel women makin' the speech." Maybe he'll leave out the Male Channeler part so not to scare Redd.... "She's fine, I think. A lot 'a people were hurt though cause the crowd... bunch of flamin' idiots!! ...decided it was a good idea t' trample e'erybody!" Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. A'right. Moment over. Wait. Back up... Suddenly the young man with white streaks in his hair takes a step backwards and loses the use of his knees and ends up sitting hard on the floor. Eh? Redd blinks at Neelkan's fall, releasing the bed and falling against the closest bed to him and making it slowly to Neelkan. "Are you all right?!" he calls, weakly. Wyntere kneels down to Neel's side. "It's alright, Neel." Looking at Redd, she motions the other over. "Come here, Redd." There is an open arms for a hug if needed. "Look, everyone is alright now. Redd, why are you so afraid? and Neel, relax please. Getting upset isn't going to help anyone." Getting upset won't help anyone...? Well, the Aes Sedai is right, but Neelkan isn't exactly in the getting upset frame of mind right now. The need to not get trampled, followed by the need to get Denn help, followed by the need to help Aliana Sedai, followed by the need to get back to the Tower delayed something from fully effecting him. Now he's back in the Tower, and... well... nothing is keeping it from shocking him. So he's just sitting there on the ground, staring in the general direction of where Redd and Wyn were a second ago. Only they're not there anymore, so he's staring at nothing now. Redd makes it to Neelkan, forcing himself to stand up on his own. It doesn't last long and his legs give out on him again, and he falls forward between Neel and Wyntere. Wyntere catches Redd and holds him up. "Let's get the two of you into beds." She stands up and picks Redd up, placing him in a nearby bed before returning to Neel's side. She holds her hand down to him. "Here, let me help you, Neelkan." Taking a few deep breaths, Neelkan still doesn't seem to see anything. Not until the hand is held towards him at least. He blinks once, then again, looking over towards Wyntere, looking a little confused at first, but then what else is new... Slowly he moves to take the hand, and the help up... He really, really needs to talk to somebody... but it may have to wait til morning. And, Light, he -really- doesn't want to go to sleep... Wyntere grins softly to him. "Let's go find a bed for you to sleep in. I'll stay as long as I can." Her voice seems to let him know she is there if he needs her. Redd shakes his head the whole way to the bed. Once he gets to the bed, he slowly sits up. "I want to stay by her..." He won't move from the bed, not yet. If he gets anything that /might/ be permission, though, he will be on his feet. Wyntere grins and chuckles to Redd as she is helping Neel up. "You have a bed beside her. That is close enough. Let her sleep." She try to explain calmly. "Besides, if anyone comes to hurt her or if she wakes, you can beat her side. But you can hardly stand as it is. I suggest you sleep." Espiria turns slightly on the bed, staying asleep but seeming to get even more comfortable now that she's relaxed and dreaming. "I... I can make it m'self, Aes Sedai..." Neelkan whispers softly. Now something really must be wrong. He didn't call her Wyn... "He glances towards the boy. Normally he would shake his head and whisper in the kid's ear how girl's aren't worth it, but the last few weeks... well... a few girls, or women as the case may be, have crawled out of the ditch that he dug for them to sit in in his mind years ago. The one sleeping in the bed and the one helping him being two of them. Go figure. He looks towards Espi for a moment and watches her, looking as if he wishes for something... but then he shakes his head. (And no, it isn't what some might be thinking. Bwah). He accepts the help over to a bed and instantly lays down. But has no intention of falling asleep. Intention being the keyword. Redd's eyes lock on Espiria. At first it is just on her, but then his eyes move, to something near her that is invisible. He then goes back to her. He has no intention of sleeping either. He will stay awake until he knows Espiria will be fine. And words won't help him believe at all. Mindra is seated at a table at the back of the infirmary. A cup of tea is before her, as are a small pile of scrolls. She has one of them open and is reading it, a quill pen in her hand and an annoyed expression upon her face. She is back away from most of the people in the infirmary, catching up on paperwork. Wyntere smiles softly to Neel and whispers to him. "Wyn was fine, Neel. Or shall I call you Master Neelkan?" Her eyes grin a little as if this were something for just between them both. She really doesn't mind the title Aes Sedai, but she also kinda like the unruly boy he was. SOme of the challenge to get him to like her is gone now. She lets him sit upon the bed and she relaxes as she looks between Redd and Neelkan. Then she tilts her head. "Redd, what do you see?" Laying back on the bed that Wyn helped him into, Neelkan stares up at the cieling and tries desperately, despite being extremely tried, not to sleep. He actually manages a small laugh at the 'Master Neelkan' bit and mutters softly, "'long as ya don't call m' by m' real name, Wyn..." And it's not exactly that the challange is gone... just something happened to the boy today that pushed a shock into his system that's probably one of the biggest he's ever had... pause... well... He sits up a little and looks towards Redd when Wyn asks what he sees. -That- was another of the biggest shocks... Redd looks away from Espiria, but he looks back quickly. He doesn't care about his secret right now, he doesn't even think about it being a secret right now. "I saw... an... archway..." He pauses as it comes back into sight for him, by the way he looks above Espiria now makes it clear. "Yellow..." Wyntere tilts her head. "What color archway? A yellow one?" Then she glances to Neelkan, still listening. "Neelkan isn't your real name?" This is new. Mindra looks up from the scroll that she is reading as the conversation on the other end of the room filters into her attention. She ponders Wyntere as she asks her question and then shifts a little in the chair to see Neelkan's reaction and response. Perhaps this is more interesting than paperwork.... Whoops. Silly delayed shock. Next thing he knows he'll be saying 'Oh ye'h, did I mention I was a bandit?'. That wouldn't go over good, certainly. Neelkan shifts slightly and mutters, "Uh.. no. Neelkan's not m' real name." He glares around at some of the Yellows. Some of them know his real name. He must have gave it when he was still delerious. Redd nods slowly. "Yellow..." he repeats. He looks up at Wyntere and Neelkan. He didn't hear anything Neelkan said, but he doesn't care to know any name of his except Neel. His eyes return to Espiria quickly, though. Wyntere nods to Redd. "Redd, thank you." Wyntere will track this news. Does it mean? Maybe... "Why don't you get some sleep if you can." Then she looks at Neel, "Neel, what ever name you choose is what I will call you." She grins softly. And then another novice comes tearing into the infirmary. "Wyntere Sedai!" She slides across the floor trying to stop to curtsey, but the curtsey ends up with her on the floor. She breathes heavily as though she's been running. "Thanks..." Neelkan says in small thanks, smiling slightly. He's way more comfortable with Neelkan, even if he's only been going by it for two years... He settles back to lay down again, when the Novice tears in and causes him to jump back up again. Arg! Silly women spooking him! He glares at the girl despite himself. Redd turns his eyes to the Novice as she tears in. He, of course, misses Wyntere's comment about sleeping. If he heard it, he would have to listen. He keeps watching Espiria though. Mindra rises from her chair and walks over toward the arriving novice, giving the running girl a look of disapproval. She says nothing to her, after all the mistress of novices is right before her and normally would attend to these matters. She gives a slight nod to Wyntere in greeting. Wyntere glances to the novice and tilts her head with a frown, though disapproval is far from Wyntere's face. She looks up to the Yellow and nods to her. "Sister, peace. I'll handle this." She assures the other. Then looking to the girl, she offers her a hand up. "Come now, Felise. What's this about?" The girl looks to Mindra and her eyes are open and wide. Then when she finds out she's under Wyntere, she relaxes some. "Wyntere Sedai, it's... they need you. Come, I'll take you." She curtseys Mindra and then hopes Wyntere follows her. Mindra nods to Wyntere as the woman speak to her, glad it seems that the girl is under control by the Mistress of Novices. She is not known for enjoying interruptions in her normally orderly and quiet infirmary. She looks at Redd. "Why are you not resting, Redd? You should not weary yourself in this manner." She looks at the crowd with some disapproval. Oh. Something important. Well, that means Neelkan can lay back again and turn on the bed to face away from most the people in the room and pretend to sleep. But he's not going to sleep until he pases out for tiredness. Or just happens to slip into sleep during a few moments where he was just planning on 'resting his eyes'. Redd frowns quietly as the 'memories' pass through his mind. Then his thoughts go elsewhere. Kennyth... Neelkan... Wyntere Sedai... and Espiria. The only friends he knows now. He then remembers again that 'dream'... it really did happen, didn't it? He then speaks, to Espiria alone, but loud enough to be heard if one is listening. "I promise to protect you, Miss... like I couldn't protect them..." Wyntere follows the novice out of the room after telling the others bye.
