Courtyard, The White Tower, Tar Valon Marble tiles gleam from a straight path which leads from the Gates of the Tower to the wide double doors which announce its entry point. Soft grass and well planned patches of flowers can be found to either side, with the occasional shady tree. Accepted and novices sit on stone benches, some practicing their Power to the dismay of uneasy petitioners passing through. To the side there is a stable, near the fenced entrance to the clearly visible yard where shirtless boys go through sword forms through the day. Guards take the weapons of those wanting to enter, though the Gaidin spread about the courtyard, seemingly about their leisure, look ready to pounce on any men who "forgot" a dagger at the gates. Aes Sedai pass through on various errands, some nodding to acknowledge bows or curtsies. The atmosphere is busy, but calm. Denn'ryiel chuckles and smiles to Wyntere. "I do not mind at all, Wyntere Sedai. You are certainly better company than some Sedai... Mother's announcement about me wasn't universally popular." The former Accepted tugs slightly at her new vest. Wyntere smiles warmly to Denn. "Don't worry about them. If they..." she sighs. No. Denn isn't a student anymore. No more babying her. "nevermind. And yes, I'd love to spend time in the gardens with you, though I'm sure you'd have alot to teach me about them. All I really know is that the flowers are beautiful and smell wonderful." Denn'ryiel smiles and prunes another thornless rose for Wyntere. "Well, that is the most important thing to realize, I think," she says, beaming. "How many of these do you want for your vase?" Yamina stands at the gate, talking to the gaurds. She seems quite at ease in their presense, though some of them give her odd looks. Wandering down the stairs of the Tower is a young man with.. strange hair. Neelkan flinches away from the sunlight when it first hits is eyes and has to raise a hand to shade them. Once his eyes are able to adjust he lowers the hand and starts to finger at the sash around his waist... He glances towards the gates. From one to the next, taking in all those in sight... He's so tempted to make a run for it... even without his earrings and fan... If he at least had his earrings he'd probably go for it. He could have an iron smith make another fan for him... Probably wouldn't be as good as his, but... Sigh. No, he won't run for it. Yet. And the guards probably have orders not to let him leave. Not like there's that many young men, no more then seventeen, with white streaks in their hair to confuse him with. Wyntere looks to the sky and thinks a moment. "3. that's always a nice number." One for Johiah, One for Wyntere, the third for.... hmm. well, 3 is pleasing to the eye. "Thank you for this Denn'ryiel." She tilts the two roses in her hands that she was already handed. "You were very right, plants make rooms much nicer." Denn'ryiel nods once and cuts off a third rose, handing it to Wyntere. As she does so she catches sight of the boy with the white hair. "That's odd... I thought he was recuperating," she remarks to the Sedai. Twisting his fingers around the end of the sash, Neelkan makes his way down into the courtyard, walking a little more slowly then he'd like, but he's just happy to be let out to see some sunlight and fresh air! He looks around, kinda waryily, trying to ignore all the women around... Oi. Then his eyes spot someone, who from a distance looks kind of like a man, talking to the people at the gate. He reaches up and rakes a hand through his spiky, almost puffed up hair. This is when he notices Wyntere and the woman with the white, colored hemmed dress from the other day. He heads that direction for the moment. Maybe he'll drop by the gates later. Wyntere turns to look at the boy whom Denn is talking about. "Yes, that's Neelkan. Maybe the Yellow's let him out for some fresh air. I don't see how any one can recuperates being trapped inside all day." Denn'ryiel nods her head respectfully to Neelkan when she sees him walking towards her. "Light shine... it's good to see you again, in more pleasant surroundings." Coming to a stop a few feet away from them, Neelkan scratches at his hair slightly as he responds, "Uh.. ye'h... Light shine on ya too." Then he turns a half-smirk on Wyntere in greeting. "It's good t' see sunlight 'gain..." Yeah. He was starting to get kind of pale! Wyntere nods to Neelkan. "Yes, it is good to see the light." She looks at the time and frowns. "I need to go. I have a meeting with a few students." She tilts the roses a little again. "Thank you, sister." Yep, she'll get to see that shocked look again. Then she looks to Neelkan. "Take care, Neelkan. OH.. the yellows promised me they would give your fan back." Denn'ryiel nods respectfully to Wyntere and smiles. "Tranquil paths, sister," she says, only looking half as shocked this time. "I will talk to you again soon." Sis...ter...? His eyes go from Wyntere to Denn'ryiel and back again. Then his fan is mentioned. Yes! Neelkan looks happy at the mention of getting his fan back... But... "Take care as well, Wyntere." no Sedai title? "But.. uh... what 'bout m' earrings?" He wants them back toooooo. Sister in the form that Denn is as close to Aes Sedai that she will ever get unless the wheel decides to spin her a new thread. But honestly, Denn acts more like Aes Sedai should than some that hold the title. Well.. nough insight into wyntere's mind. "Be patient, Neelkan. I'm working on that part. Somethings take more time." Her voice is soft and gentle. "Take care both of you." Grumbling softly under his breath at the thing about being patient, Neelkan says, "I'm bloody patient!" That's a lie if there ever was such a thing. And very obvious too. "I just want m' things back." And out of womens hands! "Uh... g'bye." Denn'ryiel smiles warmly and nods. "I will," she says, watching Wyntere depart. She then turns towards Neelkan and raises an eyebrow. "Somebody said you weren't patient?" she asks him curiously. "Eh... er.. grrrr!" is basically what comes out of Neelkan's mouth. Not too good with words when he's uncomfortable is he? "I mean, uh.. I.. I guess no one did... not really at least..." He goes back to scratching at his white streaked red hair, which now that there's sunlight on it actually seems lighter with yellowish highlights. Denn'ryiel chuckles slightly, and tries to comfort Neelkan with an understanding smile. "Where will you be heading back to, when you're released?" she asks, curiously. The question isn't too specific... Tanchico or two blocks away would both be good answers. "Eh..." Neelkan looks really uncomfortable now, shruging his shoulders and diverting those bright blue-green eyes of his, "I.. I don't really know right now." His half-smirk is completely gone and he seems bothered for a second, but then that's shaken away and he looks back, "I'll prolly go back south. See if I can find m'friends 'gain." Denn'ryiel sighs and nods. "Sorry, I didn't mean to unsettle you. I have a tendancy to ask the wrong questions at the wrong times." Suddenly a thought occurs to her. "Oh... I can't believe I forgot. My name is Denn'ryiel," she states. "Neelkan. Though ya a'ready know, cause Wyn was sayin' it..." Neelkan replies in kind, scratching at his hair again. It's something he does often when nervous. "It's.. uh.. nice t' meet ya, Denn'ryiel. Can I just call ya Denn 'r somethin'?" He has a habit of shortening names whenever possible. Denn'ryiel laughs her very own warm laugh, and nods. "I was just about to tell you that you could. My friends, and a few that aren't, all call me Denn. And it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Neelkan," she says, nodding her head. "Uh... good. Ya can call me Neel, if ya want. 'at's 'bout what all of 'em call me." Neelkan finally forces himself to lower his hand from his hair and rests it on the end of his red sash again, fingering it slightly, "An'.. it's uh... nice t' meet ya too." Denn'ryiel blinks a little bit, since she was responding to Neel saying it was nice to meet her. "I'll have to tak your word on that... you've said it twice," she smiles gently. "How much time do you have before they'll want you in the infirmary again?" Neelkan blinks. Did he say it twice? He must not be thinking completely straight. Or maybe he was always that way. "Uh... 'ey said I could stay out til I got tired. 'long as I didn't leave the Tower grounds. I've been feelin' 'lot better lately." Denn'ryiel nods, looking at Neelkan's face. "You do look healthier, honestly. I could do a delve to tell, but I don't think you want that. In any case, the fresh air should do you well. Would you care to walk, to get a little exercise in?" "They uh.. delved m' 'for I went out. 'n sure... don't see why not..." Neelkan shifts around a little, as if not sure he wants to go walking with the young woman. Not because she's a channeler or nothing. In fact he could probably care less about it as long as she doesn't go and use it on him. It's the whole fact she's a woman. Denn'ryiel takes the uncertainty as a no, and respects that. "That's alright... I was just kidding about the delve, self-teasing myself since I know you don't like being channelled at. I can respect that." Shrugging slightly, Neelkan looks away and just admits, "Just never had it done t' me 'for I came 'ere. Just a lil' weird." Not to mention all the people who channel safely are WOMEN. That doesn't exactly sit well with him. "'n really, we can go walkin'. I'd like t' see more of the place, if it's possible." It is kind of neat. Even if it houses a bunch of WOMEN. Denn'ryiel smiles, and steps away from the rose bushes. "Anything you want to see in particular?" she asks, curiously. "Or would anywhere that's not the infirmary suffice?" There's actually a laugh and a half-smirk at that, and Neelkan nods, "'at sounds 'bout right, ye'h!" He turns around finally and looks at the tower from the outside for the first time. He was delerious when he was brought here... and his eyes widen. "Light!" he mutters. he'd heard the Tower was huge, but... well... that's -really- huge. Denn'ryiel nods and looks up at the Tower with some pride, even though she had no part in its construction. "It's... awe inspiring, isn't it... I remember when I first arrived... it just kept getting bigger and bigger the closer I got... I was numb when I finally got this close." Giving his head a firm shake, Neelkan snaps out of it, "Not just... Ne'ermind." He trails off and look a little... bothered for a moment. "So, where on Tower grounds is 'ere t' go?" Denn'ryiel answers, "The Gardens... stables..." she points in the direction of each, though she looks a bit disturbed. "I'm sorry... is anything wrong?" she asks, when curiousity overpowers her. Looking back up at the Tower for a moment... Neelkan shakes his head, bringing a hand up to his forehead and closing his eyes... "Nothin'.. I just think I've.. seen it before is all. Prolly saw a sketch of it or something." he says in a dismissing fashion, but he doesn't believe that at all. Denn'ryiel doesn't press and turns away. She inwardly chides herself for such a question. "Well, I can show you where the trainees, um, train. You might find some others to talk to there." "Train f'r protectin' the Aes Sedai?" Neelkan askes questioningly. Wyn explained a few things to him in her visit to the infirmary. Not that much, but the basics. "Sure. 'at sounds fine." Denn'ryiel nods affirmatively to Neelkan. "Yes... those that complete their training are often chosen as Warders to individual Sedai, whom they then serve and protect. A few just want to get trained to go fight in the war though." "So ya can train 'ere even if ya don't wanna serve the Aes Sedai?" Neelkan asks, for the first time sounding like he might actually have an interest behind what he's asking. "What all d''ey teach 'em? If ya know 'n all.." Denn'ryiel smiles, and alters their course to start walking in that direction. "Yes, though all trainees will be expected to be respectful to Aes Sedai while training here. Most of the training involves swordplay and other weapons, though any skill a fighter might need, like survival or horseback, is taught as well." Well, it was sounding good until that whole respectful thing... "How respectful d'ya mean?" Neelkan asks in a soft voice, thinking that it means something other then just being nice and stuff. He grew up in Eharon after all... He follows after her, moving up to walk beside her. Denn'ryiel doesn't turn her head to answer. "Well, it is their Tower you'll be training at after all. You'll be expected to bow and address them by title. You'll be expected to do as they request within reason, though that means little since Sedai rarely ask anything of trainees. You'll be run too busy by the Gaidin to worry about what Aes Sedai might have you do." Raising his hands as if defensively, Neelkan quickly said, "Never said I was thinkin' a joinin'!" Liar. "I just... if I won't be able t' find Hakurou 'n the rest of the ban...uh...group... I mean I got no way t' know 'ere 'ey went... Just thinkin', maybe..... A'right, a'right! I was thinkin' 'bout joining." Denn'ryiel laughs, but weakly. "I'm sorry... it's my fault. Most who ask me are ones that are wishing to join, so I guess I sortof went back to those talks. I apologize for flustering you." "It's a'right..." Neelkan reassures softly. He just tends to freak out a lot. If he does stick around, he'll probably get kicked out because of things like that! "I can work hard, so 'at ain't a problem." It's just the respectful part, and following women's orders, even if rare that are causing him to second guess his thoughts on the matter. Denn'ryiel nods once, convinced by Neelkan's words. "If you do decide to find out more about it, you should ask a trainee or Gaidin. They can answer your questions from a first-person perspective." Which is always more interesting that the third-person. She pauses as the pass by the same thornless rose bush that they started from. Glancing at the rose bush... Neelkan stares at it a moment, then goes back to walking. He has to stop acting weird or they're gonna keep him here forever. "I'll do 'at if I think I might stay. Don't know why it's takin' so long t' get my bloody earrin's back. Not like 'ey can be worth 'at much..." Grumble. He changes subjects quickly, doesn't he? Denn'ryiel turns her head towards Neelkan, and glances at his punctured earlobe. "I'm sure they'll find it soon... I can't think that anyone would want someone else's earrings, no offense." "I don't see why either. But 'ey gave me back m' necklaces at least!" Neelkan fingers at both of the beaded necklaces of his. Which is part of the reason he doesn't understand why they haven't returned his earrings. He starts to mutter, "M' fan and knives and stuff I can understand at least..." Then he blinks and shakes his head. Didn't mean to speak outloud.
