Job DescriptionThe undergraduate college at the University of Dubuque invites applications for the position of Associate Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Associate Dean will collaborate with the Associate Dean of Professional Programs, the Academic Affairs Coordinator, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs to lead the College toward accomplishing its mission of becoming one of the best small, private Christian colleges and universities, where educational opportunities are offered to first-generation and other underserved populations, and where diversity is appreciated and Christian love is practiced. Associate Dean responsibilities include planning academic policies, procedures, and systems; faculty recruitment, evaluation, and professional development; and curriculum development for the departments of Communication, English, Fine and Performing Arts, Natural and Applied Sciences, Philosophy and Religion, Psychology, History, and Sociology-Criminal Justice.
The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in an appropriate discipline and will have significant experience in higher education teaching and administration. In addition to understanding of and support for the Reformed Christian mission of the University, he or she will have strong administrative and interpersonal skills; the ability and desire to collaborate with faculty, administrators, staff, and students; a demonstrated commitment to diversity; entrepreneurial skills, and knowledge of and comfort with institution-wide assessment. The University consists of the College, Graduate School, and Theological Seminary and is located in an All-American City of 50,000 on the banks of the Mississippi. Undergraduate enrollment and faculty count have both doubled over the past seven years, 25% of our student body is persons of color, a significant endowment supports campus-wide character and ethics education, and our Diamond Program provides comprehensive support for students' academic, interpersonal, vocational, and life skills development.
