Job Description
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Physics (by June 30, 2009) with a specialization that is pertinent to the scope of undergraduate physics education at UW-Platteville. Preference will be given to those with degrees or experience in Physics Education Research. Candidates must have one year of teaching experience. Two-semesters as a half-time teaching assistantship in graduate school meet this requirement. Qualifications also include good communication skills with both students and faculty, a commitment to undergraduate education, a demonstrated commitment to or experience with racially diverse populations. Employment will require a criminal background check.

Appointment Date: Start date approximately August 24, 2009
Additional Info: UWP is a comprehensive university of approximately 7,000 students located in the hill and stream region of Southwestern Wisconsin. The College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science has approximately 2,000 students in engineering, mathematics, chemistry, and computer science, including about 50 students in an ABET-accredited engineering physics major. The university also offers degrees in biology, agriculture and industrial studies. The enrollment in calculus-based physics is about 600 students per year; the enrollment in algebra-based physics is about 150 students per year.
