Job DescriptionTeaching introductory and advanced courses in ornamental horticulture and plant science including landscape design, landscape management, turfgrass management, the plant-soil environment, woody landscape plants, fruit and vegetable production and related courses depending on expertise, interest, and curricular need. Scholarly and professional responsibilities include: academic advising; working with student organizations; assisting in the development and management of the Pioneer Greenhouse and Gardens Complex; applied research in landscape management, nursery management and/or scholarship of teaching and learning; university and community service; and other duties as assigned. Doctorate in ornamental or environmental horticulture, horticulture, plant science or closely related field completed by June 30, 2009. Other qualifications include applied research or college level teaching experience; ability to teach introductory and advanced courses in plant science, landscape design and management, and ornamental horticulture; excellent communication and organizational skills; demonstrated commitment or experience with racially diverse populations; demonstrated ability to use computer technology, develop and deliver effective presentations and experiential learning activities, and to define and assess desired student learning outcomes; dedication to undergraduate education and enthusiasm for professional engagement with students in a variety of settings; and the desire and ability to work in teams.
