The University of Dubuque invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning August, 2009. Ph.D. preferred; candidates for the doctorate considered. A primary focus of the position is on developing and implementing endorsements for teachers of mathematics. The successful candidate will be an experienced mathematics educator with strong teaching competencies and interests in working closely with diverse students and with colleagues in the interdisciplinary Department of Natural and Applied  Sciences. The normal teaching load is twelve credits per semester, and there are opportunities for summer teaching.

The Tri-State area of Dubuque, Iowa, is home to 90,000 people and sits on the bluffs of the Mississippi River at the intersection of the states of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Dubuque was one of ten communities to earn the 2007 All-American City award. Dubuque has excellent public and private schools, inexpensive housing, a low-crime rate, a very low cost of living, and an excellent quality of life. The University of Dubuque is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and has experienced a decade of significant enrollment growth, program development, and  very strong trustee and donor support.
