Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY.  The Economics program at Loras College seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in the Fall of 2009.  The program prides itself on quality teaching in small class settings where there is close interaction between faculty and students.  All faculty members teach the introductory courses as well as upper division courses with the potential of developing new courses.  Fields of specialization or areas of instructional expertise within economics are open.  There is also an expectation that all faculty contribute to teaching courses within the general education curriculum of the College.  Normal teaching load is seven courses per year.  Since all students and faculty receive laptops, applicants for this position are expected to incorporate computer technology into their teaching pedagogy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE.   Ph.D. preferred along with undergraduate teaching experience.

DIVISION OF SOCIAL AND CULTURAL STUDIES.  Economics is housed within a division consisting of 16 full-time faculty members that teach in the following  programs:  Economics, History, International Studies, Politics, and Sociology with minors in Archaeology and Gender Studies.
