Position:  Assistant Professor in Animal Science specializing in dairy cattle management (100% teaching, 9 month, tenure track). 

Date:  Review of applications will begin January 06, 2009 and continue until the position is filled.  Start date for this position is August 24, 2009. 

Responsibilities:  Teaching courses in dairy cattle management, introduction to dairy science, dairy cattle evaluation, dairy product analysis and processing and other courses in the animal science area. The development of courses in alternative animal management and animal behavior is a possibility. Additional responsibilities include: academic advising of students, willingness to lead or participate in professional and scholarly activities and international study programs, advising student organizations and clubs, coaching the dairy judging team, working with state organizations and producers in the dairy industry and providing expertise to the university dairy unit, and other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:  Doctorate in animal science or dairy science with a specialization in dairy cattle management completed by June 30, 2009. Applicants must have conducted applied research or have college level teaching experience, demonstrated commitment or experience with racially diverse populations; possess excellent communication and organizational skills; demonstrated commitment to work in a team atmosphere; demonstrated ability and desire to develop and deliver effective curriculum and experiential learning activities; and demonstrated commitment to professional engagement with students in a variety of settings.
