Riff strumming pattern:
^: from down to up (e to E)
v: from up to down
--v--v--^v^v-^--v^-
Personnally, I do the middle part like this: -v^v^-v-. It doesn't really matter.
The last two strums of the riff are sort of a transition to the next riff and also
keep the beat going in chord changes. You'll see by listenning to the song, but
anyway, it comes naturally.
Dido: White Flag (acoustic)
Intro:
Dm (2X)
Verse: (
[Dm]I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
I'll [Am]tell you that.
But if [Dm]I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
[Am]where's the sense in that?
I promise [C]I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or ret[Gm]urn to where we were [Am]
Chorus: (1X each chord)
[Bb]Well I will go down with this [F]ship
And I won't [Gm]put my hands up and sur[Dm]render
There will be [Bb]no white flag above my [F]door
I'm in [C]love and always [Gm]will be
Verse:
[Dm]I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come [Am]back again
And I caused [Dm]nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't [Am]talk to me again
[C]And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm [Gm]sure that that makes sense [Am]
Chorus:
[Bb]Well I will go down with this [F]ship
And I won't [Gm]put my hands up and sur[Dm]render
There will be [Bb]no white flag above my [F]door
I'm in [C]love and always [Gm]will be
Bridge: (2X each chord)
And when we [F]meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was [Am]then
Will be there still
I'll let it [Gm]pass
And hold my tongue
And you will [C]think
That I've moved on....
Chorus:
[Bb]Well I will go down with this [F]ship
And I won't [Gm]put my hands up and sur[Dm]render
There will be [Bb]no white flag above my [F]door
I'm in [C]love and always [Gm]will be
[Bb]Well I will go down with this [F]ship
And I won't [Gm]put my hands up and sur[Dm]render
There will be [Bb]no white flag above my [F]door
I'm in [C]love and always [Gm]will be
