"Vacation" May 2002

Day 1: Thursday, May 23, 2002.
We spend the morning "brainstorming."   Ow!; That hurts!  Duane finally finds a web-site that has caught his attention.   We are going to go see minature donkeys (Shazaam!)  See the
Donkeys and the bird farm websit
We drive onto Napa.  We get to a decent bird 'ranch' just before closing time... so cute! Wish we had pictures.  You'll have to do with a link to Feather Farms website and Beaker's baby picture.
To re-cap:
The trip then was from San Jose, CA, up the East side of the Bay and across the
Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (with lovely views of San Quentin Prison)... Up past Lucas Valley (think "Star Wars";), and up to Santa Rosa.  There we found the Bird Exchange."  Then West on Highway 12 through Sonoma (Cows!) and Napa..., American Canyon to Interstate 80 to Fairfield, CA (traffic!).  South on Interstate 680 to home...
Day 2: Friday, May 24, 2002
We abandon the idea of going to the
Monterey Bay Aquariium today.  Karen has an important phone call at 3pm, and we would lose 3 hours on the road going to and from Monterey.

We select San Jose's
Tech Museum of Innovation... we had not been since it opened a few years ago, and it it close by.  "The Tech" as it is know, is very different on the inside than we imagined.  There are several floors of exhibits, and while very much geared to young students, there is plenty for adults to explore.  There is a LOT crammed into this corner of Market Street and Park Avenue downtown.

We select the ticket package the includes two movies at the IMAX dome theater.  Of the three films, we select
Mysteries of Egypt and Space Station.
