Thank you!

“Dementia enables “disconnection”... Disconnection from memories and former life roles. Movercise provides a much needed “re-connection”. Re-connection to self, others, meaningful daily activity and most importantly, a re-connection to success and wellness.

In today’s society, Range of Motion (ROM) and exercise are key words in health care.  Due to physical and cognitive limitations, persons with dementia of the Alzheimer's type often have difficulty participating successfully in standardized ROM or exercise groups.  Therefore, creative interventions must be implemented to meet the over all wellness and physical needs of those residents.

Movercise is a revolutionary new program that combines the energy and immediacy of pre-recorded “live” music applications while trained staff, family and volunteer members provide hand over hand Range of Motion (ROM) techniques.  Utilizing the basic principles of Music Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation and ROM, each 30 minute session is molded to create a successful, non-threatening environment and includes sing along melodies and opportunities for physical contact, cognitive stimulation and connectedness.   Movercise allows residents diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and/or other related dementia, the chance to experience the real and potential benefits of a person centered movement program tailored to meet their individual needs.

*** This program may be applicable to persons

living in any long term care facility***

Movercise is an interdisciplinary approach to range of motion utilizing basic principles of music therapy and therapeutic recreation.
