One of the things you are going to need is a good portfolio of your work, showing the variety of styles and capabilities you are able to achieve. Your portfolio should include examples of style such as newsletter, commercial page, home page formats and use a variety of scripts and forms. This should also use options of pages with and without graphics. Your portfolio can take many forms, from an online source to distribution on CD - whatever method you decide to use, this is where you direct your potential client to select from a style and review your work. If you are just starting out, you might want to develop at least a half dozen sample pages to use as references. If you are already getting established you should include links to the pages you have already created. In addition to your page samples you should have a collection of templates created, this will help reduce your creation time plus assist your client in determining their exact needs. Page templates and graphics should be displayed separate from example pages, but could be linked to from the sample pages as alternatives for that style. NOTE! - Your already created templates will reduce your production time immensely, and when quoting your customer a price, you should consider a rate scale for published from template against completely constructed from scratch. |
