2005

I have finally figured out what SUV's are for:
Slamming into cyclists and not having to worry about spilling your coffee.
That and wasting gas and space that could be far better spent on pretty much anything else.

Yes, I did get hit by a large blue Blazer. Yes, I am ok but, my bike was not. Yes, I did get money from insurance. No, I can't ever rebuild the same bike because they're all race parts that have been discontinued.

The worst part of July 4th (that's when I got hit) is not the fact that I got hit by a car (although it relly sucked), it was the fact that Dave at work dropped a fork onto the top tube of my frame and dented it. So even though most of my bike survived being run over (literally) by a car, the frame was not so lucky as to survive Dave. Coincidentally the guy in the blue SUV was also named Dave.

I have now built up a new commuter bike thanks to Dave (from work) getting me a new frame (another old Mosh race frame). However it's not the same. The frame is half and inch shorter and at least a pound heavier. These are pretty big differences when you spend as much time as I do on a tiny little child sized bicycle, which is not only your main mode of transportation but also your main source of fun.

So if you happen to drive an SUV around town, do me a favour don't come anywhere near me.
Furthermore you might just try riding a bike around on the street for a while and see just what the hell a day in my life feels like. You might just think twice about running a red light so that you can go get a coffee so that you can throw the used cup in the middle of your nature hike to which you have just driven your toxin spewing SUV to.

Then again you probably won't think about it once.
